Just ordered a Spyderco Tenacious and can't wait for it to get here. It will be replacing my Byrd Cara Cara for awhile. Anyone else have this knife? Thoughts?

I have the smaller version, the Persistence, and I love it. Love how it opens, love its sharpness. Not that much heavier than some of the smaller knives, and at a shade under 3 inches, a great length. Yet heavyduty enough to do some serious cutting. Opened up a clamshell package last night with it, easier than scissors, I tell you that.

Very nicely executed liner lock, comfortable handles, good fit and finish, strong clip, blade shape like Manix, detent is good, drilled liners for lighter weight, sharp out of the box and best of all... it's pretty cheap :)

I own two. Reasonably sharp out of the box, but not as sharp as most Spyderco knives. Very solid lock up. Opening the knife is a joy, fast and smooth with a very decided click.

The G-10 doesn’t provide that much grip.

The shape en size of the handle work well with my medium sized hands. I guess that even for somebody with very large hand the handle is comfortable.

It’s fairly heavy because of the thick steel liners (even though they are drilled to reduce weight) but the slim profile means it’s easy to carry.

The 8Cr13Mov steel is fine, but not exceptional as far as I can tell. I noticed that I touch up the Tenacious a little bit more than similar VG-10 knives. So possibly it loses an edge a little bit faster.

Overall I feel it’s an exceptional knife, if you don’t mind a slightly larger, heavier knife. I would not pick it over the (more expensive) Endura, but the Tenacious is a special knife for not a lot of money. If it was more expensive, I would still recommend it.

Mine came razorsharp. It's really incredible value for money. Solid, nice G-10, good steel with one serious warning: It WILL rust at the slightest bit of moisture. Keep dry, or preferably oiled.

The Tenacious is arguably the best folder there is, in its price class. The only competition I can think of is the Ontario RAT 1. (Doesn't have G-10 though :p)

When I got mine it was also impressively sharp out of the box.
You can't go wrong for the money.

Two thumbs up for the tenacious!:thumbup:

I have the little brother Persistence. It's one of my "cheaper" knives but also one of my favorites. Buttery smooth opening, solid lockup and great blade shape with thumb gimping. Best of all, the price is right - All the Spyderco goodness we're use to, for at least half the cost of it's usual quality offerings.

I bought my first Tenacious about 6 months ago...I now own three. Used to EDC an Endura, all I have carried since is my Tenacious. I just love this thing!
