I'm having trouble understanding what all the law being put into place on July 1st is doing. I understand that it repeals the ban on switchblades and blades of 4" in length but that seems like all. Is this all the bill does or does it remove bans of balisongs and daggers/dirks as well?

There will simply be no mention of knives any more at all regarding public carry in the revised statutes. You can carry anything you want (as of July 1).

The only mention of knives in whole weapons section now is their continued ban on school property and that using a switchblade in a crime is a separate charge. (little sop thrown to the weenies). So criminals should pay heed to this and only use Bowie knives and whatever to knock over gas stations.

The only mention of "dagger" has ever been but the one in the weapons in schools statute, so I guess that's where you got that, but doesn't matter since all knives are de facto banned there, with only a couple of very narrow exceptions. IOW, it has always been legal to carry a "dagger". The word "dirk" has never been in TCA weapons statutes at all.
