I hiked over the Tennessee Valley Divide last week. There was a 700ft change in elevation during the hike, and a really interesting romp through Chickamauga Creek. Here are the only pics I took. The trees are really thick in there and I didn't get any good scenery views.

This turtle was working his way up the mountain. He's probably over it by now.

One Bitch of a Black Widow.

Normally you don't see a Widow in the daylight. Nice specimen though. Baddest damn spider around our parts, for sure!

She was on the fringe of a deep shadow. I was sitting on a boulder when a bee flew into her web. She jumped out to get him but he broke free. Gave me the willies all over.

I don't like spiders, so I had a  face when I saw a black Widow.

You freaked me out :o

Very nice pics.

Lichens on the rocks look good with that RC-6. I'm envious...
of the hike and the knife.

+1 on that. I don't mind jumpers, they're kinda cute, but web-builders give me the screaming heebie jeebies, esp. the really venomous ones.

I found a fairly healthy widow while breaking down my tent last camping trip.

Didn't want to think about if it was hanging out inside or outside the tent.

Cool pics. Black widows are crazy. To think you could be killed by something so small is hard to fathom, ignoring diseases that is. At the least you saw it.

Nice pics. Black widows, I hate to say, are one of the few things I will kill on sight. While I dont like snakes, I leave them alone. But something about spiders that I really hate.

I hate spiders. We found a widow outside our dorm one day. we took care of her with a match and a few ounces of WD40.

That spider isnt something I needed to see sitting in a dark room:eek:
It gives me the creeps, even though we dont have them round here.
It should have been killed to feed the turtle.:D

Awesome pics! I hiked it with my son a about two weeks ago. Like you said, not a whole lot of scenery but we still had fun.

I can't wait to get up in the Cohutta Wilderness Area this weekend. I hope my plans survive the wife!:D
