Tent pole containers?

Hey all,

I have recently come into possession of a two person tent. I am hoping to take it on our next trip out, but I am paranoid about one thing; the poles bending in my pack when its getting tossed around.

Does anyone put their tent poles (assuming you carry a tent in your pack for trips) in some sort of container to prevent them from being damaged? Has anybody improvised a container for their poles?

Thanks for looking, all best,

-Jim

Is there anything lighter than PVC?

Next time I can get out in town I'll see if the hardware store we have carries it. the selection that the have is terrible, but its worth a shot. thank you; i totally forgot about piping. I feel dumb.

The black polypipe is cheap and light. But the white pvc in sch 20 can also be found in foam core DWV.

I just use a stuffsack with a draw string, fits on the side of my pack, or use bungee cord to fix it to the outside of a pack where they won't get snagged while hiking.

you are over worrying. The tent poles will be fine. Unless you drop your pack off a cliff face.

I dont know why my replies arent showing up....

Anyway, my pack routinely gets chucked off of the backs of our 7 tons all of the time. With it getting thrown around, unless its bombproof, it'll break. Its not just me handling the pack, so I want to protect the fragile stuff.

If I'm carrying a tent, it's in an internal frame pack with the tent poles vertical against my back. I can pull them out very quickly if needed, and they are protected by the stay(s).
