Hi People

Lookin to buy a tent for historical reenactment

Civil war era

Lookin at an A tent that is 7' tall X 9' Long X 8' wide

Question:

Is this big enough for my wife and I and our two mid size dogs and a modest amount of gear say for 3 days plus guns and ammo?

Thanks

Before kids, My wife the two dogs (medium to large) and I would use a 3'6" X 6' X 6' a week at a time for backpacking (it was a weight Vrs size compromise. It worked OK all the time we stayed dry...wet dogs....sadly no guns or ammo.

I'd think it would seem a lot bigger with the dogs outside...Would it be historically accurate to have them inside?:)

If they had tents with flys at that time, getting one with a large fly that could shelter the dogs next to the tent and under the fly seems a good compromise. I can't imagine housekeeping in a tent during rainy weather with wet dogs going in and out.

I think that would be plenty big, provided you had some separation for the dogs. If you and your wife slept on cots, the dogs can be trained to stay on some sort of dog beds. Gear can go in a pile or under the cots Then you should be able to keep your gear from getting "funged" - my wife's term for the shed/slobber/booger/dirty paw effect that she claims my dog has.
