Terrible edge on a new Boker+

I just picked up a Boker Plus Elegance lockback with bubinga wood handles. The grind on the cutting edge is absolutely terrible, uneven on both sides and i'm going to need to do some serious reprofiling on it in order to get it to cut properly. Is this something i should send in for warranty repair? Maybe it will help their QC if they know what's coming out of their factories in china.

I had problems last year with German made big buck Bokers coming dull right out of the box (Haddock, Pry-Mate, and Titan Worker). All were sharpened by a Spydie Sharpmaker to razor status. I have yet to get a new Boker Tree Brand Classic slippie that didn't come razor sharp right out of the box, however.

It's not just that it's dull it's that the one side of the knife is ground at 20 degrees the other is at like 10. it needs re-profiling before it can actually be sharp.

Bevels that are off like you describe are a real pet peeve of mine on new knives because as you mention it requires more work to remedy than a blade that's ground well but just lacks the last step of finishing to be sharp. There's a legit difference between those two situations. I'd drop a line to Boker and see what they say. Even if you don't end up sending it in they should still have it brought to their attention.

I would ask that you send it in. That is one of my pet peeves as well from an end user stand point. I'll take care of it for you.
