Whoa! I'm getting dizzy just looking at it!

OMG...I'd like to see my wife in that...bless her heart, she drives by touch.

The city of Sherwood, Oregon, where I live, has really gotten big into traffic circles lately. I love them! Instead of a 4-way stop, it's a 4-way go! You almost never have to stop at a traffic circle because you just pace yourself as you approach to fit right in. They make so much sense.

But this thing shown in the picture above: it's traffic circles within traffic circles. That's insane. And it's just markings on the pavement mostly. Crazy.

On the other hand, it's genious. Five two-way streets meet and anyone can go anyway, all without stopping. Genious!

That's a head scratcher alright. Reminds me of National Lampoons European Vacation when the family kept circling Big Ben. For hours.

Having driven round there numerous times; 75% it works as the designers hoped, the rest of the time (normally caused by a clueless wonker) it is a hazard to life and limb.

Great fun though, keeps you on your toes. In the wet on a motorbike is especially fun :)

Massachusetts utilizes the same concept except their are no road markings. You enter the circle and cut-off or hit anyone who gets in your way :D

heh. can't be any worse driving there than it is on your average south florida 4 lane at rush hour in the dead of summer. at least 75% of the drivers know what they are doing!

seriously, unless someone is clueless at the wheel that multi roundabout is a great idea. it even made me think about oscillating systems and perpetual motion. Trippy dude!

There's another Magic Roundabout in Hemel Hempstead,
GetImage.aspx

in fact, until now I thought it was the only one.
The main roundabout is a lot bigger, which helps, I think. It's just like driving on a curved dual carriageway with very frequent interruptions for roundabouts.
History here

Andy.

The way people drive in the Philly area, they would never get that down. They have problems with simple circles. lol

People in LA can't seem to figure out how to drive on straight streets. I dread to think what would happen if they dropped one of those here.

From above, that one looks like a cross eyed dog could navigate it. The one in Gaj's post gave me a headache.

Here in KY they put a simple one of those, only three roads, on our local college campus to see how it would do. People just cut smokey donuts around it, evidenced by the tread marks.
