A big knife in a small package.
This is one beautiful and solid knife. It cry's to be used. (I just can't help but pamper it)

Pic 1 has a nice image of the blade.

At first I thought it looked small but it was exactly what I was looking for.

The blade is nice and sharp, carved a little bit of wood and opened and broke down some boxes. The edge is still as sharp as could be.

The blade and handle are to spec.
The blade is hand forged out of 1084 carbon steel and is Just under 3 ¼” long and tapered.

The fit and Finnish is smooth and sweet. Terry made the knife from start to finish, all by hand from the blade to the guard and pins. The Pins and Guard are made out of Nickel silver.

The balance is right behind the guard at just under 3 ounces. The knife cradles in the hand. The handle is beautiful at just under 4 1/8”. The Ring Gidgee is so unique the colors jump out. The bold temper is wild it makes the blade look three-dimensional and plays off the wood nicely.

The knife came with a nice little sheath and storage case.

Holding the knife feels funny; this is my first custom knife. I have never owned a knife that was so perfectly balanced usually the knives are blade or handle heavy. I guess I’ll just have to get used to it. The knife is also lighter then what I have become accustomed

I can be very critical and never really expect thing to meet my
expectations, but Terry did it. I couldn't find one thing wrong with the
knife and I tried. LOL

Terry is a great guy with incredible skill and knowledge. He talked me through the entire process and kept me informed throughout its progression. Check His other work out at www.primosknives.com.

Also check out the Bowie Terry is working on for Happy Camper http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=185184

I will post more pictures and information as I put the knife through the paces.

Thanks

Very Nice. Welcome to the world of custom knives. There is no turning back now.:D

Was it your knife that was holding up mine?
Just kidding.

Now I'm REALLY looking forward to MY Primos. That bold temper line does bring that knife to life, doesn't it?

Wolf,
Thank you so much for the nice review. I'm delighted that you are pleased with the knife. The Wolf's knife was a challenge. It was a scaled down version of one of my hunters. The challenge was in achieving the balance that I go for while maintaining the same design and lines of its bigger brother.

While the knife is small, it's the balance that accounts for the "funny" light feeling that you mentioned. It is my firm belief that a knife should feel like an extension of the hand. Even a big Bowie or camp knife will "feel" light when the balance is right (my opinion). On the smaller hunter sized blades, or a very small one like yours, I believe that it should feel almost like you are holding nothing at all. Almost like cutting with your finger rather than holding a tool.

I do need to make one "small" correction. I did not make the pins. I merely cut them to size from available pin stock. We all do that. I think that the confusion may be my fault, because I do state in the accompanying paper work that that all parts of the knife were made by me, in my shop. I may need to change that to all parts with the exception of the pins and/or bolts used to secure the handle. No deception was intended there.

In closing, let me say that it has been an honor and a great pleasure working with you in the creation of your knife. I truly feel that I have not merely gained a new customer, but a new friend.

Hey Wolf,
That's a beautiful knife!
I'll bet the handle is super comfy, it just looks like it would be.
Terry, I checked out your sight and just wanted to say Thank You!
Your articles are well written, well illustrated, and very informative. I really liked the solderless finger guard joint article. As a non-knifemaker, I had no idea how difficult this all important joint was to make.
I can't believe you test every blade you make.
Fantastic!
Hopefully your techniques and attention to detail will rub off on other makers.
Lenny

Hey Thanks Guys,

I definitely have the bug and I got it bad all I can think of is my next custom. What will it be?

Hey Happy if I knew it was your knife Terry was working on I would have had him push yours to the front of the line, Ok maybe not. :)

Terry, it’s been a great experience working with you and we have forged a nice friendship in the process.

The balance and fit Terry achieved feels like the knife was made just for my hand. The handle is designed with smooth rounded edges. The handle is flat on the bottom and top so the knife sits on the fingers and forms into the hand. The handle is also tapered towards the rear. If you were to use the knife blade up the handle is designed so that it rests in the ball of the hand.

Lenny, you are right about Terry's articles. He provides some great information on his web sit.

I will post some more pictures in the Gallery, very soon.
