I just got an e-mail from Terry Primos. The knife I ordered is being finished up today and sent out to the sheath maker. Terry sent me this pic. I was doing good on the patience thing, until I saw this baby. Now I can't wait for it to arrive. And to think, Terry said he couldn't get the pic to even come close to showing off how good it looks... I am getting a wee bit excited :D

That is such a beautiful knife. That burl might be the nicest wood I have seen him use. These small tacticals of Terry's offer incredible value as well.

Thanks guys. The wait is going to be tough, but I can handle it. I was looking at having a custom camp knife made for me (got a couple of productions incoming) and I think I found the man to do it. I am debating on whether or not I want to get a custom one, since I got a becker in-coming. I think getting my hands on this one will help make my decision a lot easier and my pocket book a lot lighter :D

these primos tacticals are some of my favorite fixed blade knives, i must own one someday

That is a great looking knife, but just wait until you put her to use. I have enjoyed using my Primos hunter. The balance, fit and finish on this knife are impressive, and she holds a great edge. I also have one of Terry's bowie's on order now, and plan to order one of his tactical's after receiving the bowie. Enjoy :D

I have been trying very hard to slow down on the knife buying, after seeing your knife it is going to be harder ;). Great knife!

Hi Jeremy!
My Primos piece is now with the sheathmaker!
Maybe these two babies even lie side by side:D
Everytime I see one of them the wait gets harder...
Anybody has an idea why??;)

My Primos bowie is one of my favorite knives in my collection. I talk to Terry every week or so. There WILL be more Primos knives in my collection.

Terry is one of those makers that you just have to order from right now, before it's too late.

I see several of us already have ;)

Great purchase, Jeremy. Enjoy the knife!

:D Wow! You guys sure know how to make guy feel good. Thanks for the kind words.

Jeremy, I'm glad you like it. It was a fun one to do. I believe this was the first one of the dress tacticals to have the Black Ash Burl handle, and the unsharpened clip. It was nice to break away from the routine for a while.

Jeremy allowed me to pick the wood. The only rule was that it would be a nice piece of some type of stabilized wood. I like those orders where I have a creative freedom. :) I felt like that was a really nice chunk of Black Ash Burl.

Very nice Terry. I especially like the temper line and edge drop from the ricasso. Thats one of the hardest things for me to do, is pull that metal down right at the ricasso without getting hammer marks on the ricasso itself. Fine work sir.

You will love that knife. On of the things that really surprised but pleased me is how comfortable it is in ANY hold. Grab it forward or revered, blade up or down and it just feels right. Another thing is how light it is. This is one of the fastest knives I own and certainly one of my favorites.

Jim,
I'm sure glad you like the knife and like to show it. But tell me something brother; where the heck did you get that sheath? You better send that sucker back and let me get you a sheath made up. :D

Something more like this is what I ship out:

Jim is the owner of my first dress tactical. The one he pictured was my first attempt, and is the one that was in Blade Magazine. He was in such a hurry to get it, he wanted it without a sheath when it was returned from Blade.

I just got on the list yesterday ;). I knew I couldn't keep from buying that knife. Terry is a great guy too!

Yeah that's one I had lying around. I'd like for you to make me up one of those little pocket sheaths. I'll be on the road, heading right past you this weekend. think you could have it ready by then?
:D :D ;)

This beauty is too stunning to let languish in the greater than the last 5 days category...... so, BTTT!
I ordered one of these fine knives based in part because of this very thread! Since my knife purchases have been many and frequent as of late, Mr Primos was kind enough to put it on delayed delivery for me! I know the wait will be torture, and I am one of the absolute worst people on the face of this planet when it comes to having patience when I know something good is coming!
As you all know, a knife will only be carried if it is easy/comfortable to do so. My question for you Primos tactical owners is; How do you like the sheath? Does it just drop into the pocket, or is there a clip or belt loop on the back of the sheath? My preference is for either drop into my strong side pocket or horizontally on the belt. Perhaps if someone can take and post some pics of both sides of the sheath and also with the knife in the sheath, I would be most appreciative.
Lastly, I would like to take the public opportunity to say that Terry Primos is a stand-up guy, man of integrity, and all around polite kinda guy. When I emailed him with questions about this knife, he was prompt in answering all of my questions... even some rather blunt ones about payment. I briefly mentioned a previous experience with another maker that was a little frustating, and he made it very clear that same thing would never happen with him. I thank him for allowing me to order now, but delay delivery and payment for a whole year! First-rate!
Thanks in advance for your replies and hopefully pics.

I got my tactical in the mail from Terry on Monday. It is truely an outstanding piece. The fit and finish is superb. The wood is truely amazing. The sheath work is top notch. Mine came with a vertical belt loop, but he uses a custom sheath maker so I am sure you can get one built the way you want. This will definately not be my last primos. He offers an amazing value right now in hand forged knives. The guy is doing amazing work, and is definately someone to watch out for. I have no photo capabilities, but will answer any questions anyone has.

I received my Dress Tactical also on monday here in Switzerland!
IT IS JUST AMAZING:eek:
If there wouldn't be my wife and our six month old son..... I would hold and look at it every minute of the day:D
Terry set the sharpened clip for me on the other side cause I am a left-hander.
The sheath:  Its also a vertical belt sheath with a loop. A really nice dark red-brown tanned classic design. The fit of the knife in the sheath is perfect.
I only can speak with Jeremy: NOT my last Primos, too!
