Well, I absolutely enjoy Bob Terzuola's work. I own a few ATCFs, and think they are one of may favorite knife designs of all time. Now, I know before he was making a lot of folders, he was famous for his fixed blades. Does anyone know anything about the Battle Guard model? What kind of price they would go for? One size or more? I know that the Cutlery Shoppe did a production version of these knives, but I would like some information on the custom ones.

Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

I have one of Bobs Battle Guard custom made knives...in fact, it was my very first custom knife purchase. I believe I had him make it for ma ..ohhhh...in about 1896. He engraved the number H-178 on the bottom of the choil and on the inside-the-waist..kydex sheath that it came with. The blade is about 6.5 inches long...bead blasted gray with a sharpened 2.5 inch false edge along the top of the blade and directly in front of the handle...he serrated the top of the blade for about one inch. Handle is black micarta with two bead blasted rivets. He placed sketeboard tape along the bottom edge of the handle for better grip.

Fit and finish aon this knife is excellent..I believe this was pretty early in his career and it looks like he'd made them for years and years. It's a spear point design and the grind lines are fantastic!!!

The knife balances nicely and feels solid yet not cumbersome in the hand.

I have never used the knife to cut anything besides my fingers (testing the sharpness of the edge). It still looks pretty much as it did the day I got it in the mail...ohh there are a few very minor surface rubs from years of being in my sock drawer but all in all...it's a pretty nice example of his early work.

Let me know if you have any other questions about it.

bpman, thanks for the info. I would really like to get a hold of one of those. It sounds like an awesome knife. I saw one on ebay a couple of months ago, and damn myself for not buying it. Oh well, live and learn.
