I have a Terzuola Century Starfighter with a problem. I oiled the knife using some Hoppes oil in the black bottle. A few days later the knife blade was covered in a thin film of rust! The rag I used must have been contaminated with something else because I have never had this problem before. I cleaned the blade and got the rust off but now the Terzuola name and symbol are barely visible on the blade. There is also a dark gray circle under the left thumb stud.
Do you think it can be restored or would it be cost prohibitive?
I bought this knife at least 6 years ago from a custom gunshop that was moving (Roger Small of Scattergun Tech.) The knife had been sent to him supposedly as a prototype. I bought it because he did not like it and only wanted 250.00 (I think Roger realised he was to low when I was writing the check at light speed!)
When I disassembled the knife for cleaning I noticed a number 6 etched above the pivot pin hole. Could this be a designation for the type of steel used or a serial number?
I don't know that much about Terzuola knives except I will not find another for that price!
Thanks for any help!

you could send the knife back to terzoula...most makers will service their knives for a reasonable fee

another idea is to get some new clean shop towels and a bottle of flitz or metal glo and clean the blade yourself...the results can be great...even with rust...takes some time but worth a shot.

you can flitz at most hardware stores and i know metal glo can be obtained from smokey mountain knife shop.

i also protect my blades with a tuff-cloth from sentry solutions ...many nashville gun shops carry it.

Welcome to the forums oneminute.

You might want to give Bob a call at 505-473-1002. I am sure he will be able to advise you as to what you should do with the knife. It is likely that he will want you to send it back to be refurbished.

Good advice guys.

Just FYI, Terzuola uses nylatron washers that do not need lubrication and his blades are all stainless so there is really no reason to oil one of his knives. I carried and used my ATCF for over 3 years with just an occasional cleaning with Flitz and never had a rust problem.

Thanks for all the advice! I have been using Flitz and there are still small blemishes that pop up. Especially near the thumb studs. Usually within a couple of days whether I carry the knife or not.
I have tried calling and e-mailing Mr. Terzuola to no avail. Guess I will just ship the knife to him so he can see it.

I wouldn't send the knife until he asks you to.

He's a busy man. . .give Mr. Bob T. a week or so to respond to your e-mail(s).
