Just back from clinic. Both kidneys bad shape. Left one was reason for blood in urine -- dangerously large lesion. Tomorrow will tell whether the lesion is cancerous and whether the thing stays or goes. If it goes it'll probably go Monday so I'll be left with one bad one. When it goes suicide or dialysis.

More fine news. Aorta anuerism. Will merit constant surveilance. If it gets bigger then under the knife again.

And other mundane maladies too numerous and too common to mention.

It will not be business as usual in the forseeable future.

As Dad says, "it's hell to get old and sick."
 
Take care of yourself Uncle Bill. Many, many thoughts and prayers headed your way from a lot of people from all over the world.
 
Here you had those personal thangkas made up your last trip to Nepal in case either of you died without a Lama to do proper services.

Now with Samten and Jigme there the worst that can happen is the extra cost and effort of the Thangkas will be down the drain.

( This is gallows humor folks, and Uncle should understand it if he sees it before he has too many Heinekins - which also, BTW, end up going down the drain. )

You grew some stuff back before--You'll just have to do it again.

For now make sure getting better is top priority.

Will move you to the top of the prayer list. Docs are pretty good at fixing such things these days.
