So... tomorrow we're supposed to hear who makes the cut for the FSH Test Team. If you are chosen.... what paces will you put this new masterpiece through as a means of "testing"?

If selected(please please please) I am going to do several different chopping tests. Some on a 2x2 then a 2x4 then some seasoned firewood, and then some green limbs. After that I am going to clean it up and use it to cut some beef, and other kitchen chores that would be in the slicing area. Then I am going to supervise Josh, and just tell him to not hit any rocks or asphalt. If a kid can't break it in 30 min. then it's probably NUCLEAR TOUGH:D :D

I didn't post up for the test team, but i'm curious if the grinds on the bigger knives make it any easier to gut and clean fish than the older knives. I always found the thicker blades to make it pretty tough on smaller fish.

I know I know just catch bigger fish, i already heard that one :(

There is a lot of old dead, aged oak out back that I use selectivly to test the stamina of blades. It has broken cresent moon shaped chunks out of more than one blade. :( As sad as it has made me when this happens, it also gives me a base line for edge endurance and a knifes ability to stand up to the rigors of the field. I like to field test all knives I plan to really use thus ensuring that they will NOT fail me when the chips are down. I will most likely bring it with me on mountain bike rides too. Helpful when clearing blocked trails and such. You never know what you may have to chop through when those trails get blocked. If you have ever had barbed wire wrapped up in a cogset seizing the whole works up, you know what I mean! I hope I get a chance to ba an official tester. Giving Busse Knives a tough workout and supplying feedback to the headquaters. Sounds like a dream come true! :D

Tyuio, I never found the grind to be the problem when doing delicate work with the SH and other similarly sized blades. It is mostly the phisical size of the knife that becomes the hinderance. YMMV.

I'm planning giving it the fishing trip test. First it'll clear the way through the overgrown woods to the fishing spot. Then it'll dig in the ground for bait. Then hopefully it will gut some pike and largemouth. If my pal Pete comes along I'll probably have to hack down a few trees to unsnag his lures, too. :D
There's also a lot of hard deadwood by the lake to chop apart. One plan was to bring some paracord and hammer a knife into a log with a rock, and drag the log down to the waterline to use to stand on, or throw it in to make some structure. I had a 440A KaBar with me last time, I sure as hell wasn't going to try it with that. ;)

if choosen i will take it on a 1 week whitewater rafting trip down the selway river in idaho. the SH would be used for all the camp knife needs. cooking, chopping, clearing and everything in between.

Everything I can think of.

I throw most every fixed blade I get my hands on, so I'll be a field reporter on how well Fusion Hearts fly. :D

Other than that, I'm gonna beat on it, beat with it, chop with it, slice with it, and just generally abuse it.

Whee!

Hopefully Jerry will let the winners know the names of the other chosen ones so that they can get together to coordinate activities and compile info for a final report. :) :)

Smoking cigars helps with that...

A good floggin and pain...lots of pain...

I plan to take a large oaken mallet and drive it into everything that doesn't move. Splitting seasoned firewood, squaring hewn notches, pointing stakes, trimming steaks. You know this is a trick of Jerrys, he knows once we hold it- will will not let it go!! SALES my man!! :)

That is top secret...but can say that I will mail the pieces back to Busse individually.

If chosen, I will be starting in the kitchen!

From there, probably the backyard for general chores, tree clearing etc (I still have two that must go!:grumpy: )

Then it is to Western Australia and into the Pilbara desert. No better testing ground than that place and I am due for another trip there! Again, general camp chores, food preperation, I will build a 'humpy' with it and also gut fish and maybe a hoppy if I come across one, which I am sure that I will...

Then upon my return, I will take her into the mountains, into the infamouse 'fern gully'...there she will guide me.....to the source of all things good and pure....

:D

Bring it on! And please do not put me at the bottom of the hat!!!;)

I am going to throw it alot:D

If I get on the team, I'm going to take it up to the South Rim at Big Bend National Park for a week of desert survival tests (thanks Tom Brown)....
