Well, I finally got around to testing the 18" WWII I picked up at the Convention. I have been fondleing it all week but was not able to take it out. This afternoon I took three blades out to play with; BK&T Combat Bowie, HI AK Bowie, and the 18" WWII. I found this dead tree that needed to come down. Pretty hard wood. Started with the Combat bowie, good tool, kinda like a stout machette. Went to the AK Bowie, this bit deeper than the BK&T, but that would be expected with the weight difference
. Then I went to the WWII. I can see why this can be considered a good all around khukuri, weapon or tool. It seems light and fast(compared to an AK), but heavy enough to get stuff done. The other two knives I used in the same area on the tree. When I saw how good the WWII was doing, I left that area and started higher. I wanted to see how long it would take to get through the whole tree. Took awhile and I did get tired. I choked up on the blade a few times(the way DR. Winborne holds the khukuri when fighting). It chops better than I expected in this hold, almost felt like I had more control this way. I am going to play around with this hold more. Also did regular hold for chopping, and it did bite deeper this way. I was doing some all out forceful swings and then I would just swing and let the Khukuri do the work. Not much difference in how deep it would chop. I cannot remember who it was that said listen to the khukuri and let it do the work, But I Like It
. It was fun and tiring. The khukuri has been tested, I like this 18" WWII by Sher. And after all was done and I oiled it and cleaned it, it looks as though I have never used it-Good Tool
