Hey guys,

A few months back my SOG Tech Bowie in black TiNi finish started to go bad. I have had this knife for around 6 months so far, since it was my first SOG knife I decided not to use it. Hence I left it in a glass display cabinet for admiration. :p Just last november when I took out the knife and to my greatest horror and shock my knife's supposedly "tougher than nails" black TiNi coating had been flaking off! I was disappointed as I didn't even use nor touch the knife much these few months. It was as good as new.

Needless to say, I sent a PM to Chris@SOG and let him know about the problem. He transferred me to Lindsay at the warranty department and we worked out things from there. It was costly for me to send the knife all the way back to the states, but I badly wanted my knife replaced.

Just today the brown box appeared on my desk! :D My new knife had been replaced. Not only had SOG carefully packed the box such that it looked fresh from the cardboard factory, the knife even had some hints of oil which looked as if it had just rolled off the production line a few hours earlier!

So.... Kudos to the good folks at SOG, don't give a d*mn about what others blast SOG for, but at least for this time, they honoured their lifetime warranty.:cool:

Great service, as I have recently found out. And I think that Lindsay might be one of the nicest CS persons I have ever contacted.

My Trident folder seems to have something like that...its a user so I'll let it be. Anyone know why this would happen?

My guess it's the coating quality. I can clearly see that the guard's TiNi coating is darker than the blade's....

Mine came off without any use but if yours came off with use then it's normal I guess. It's not like a satin finish, ALL coatings come off eventually. ;)
