I would like to know if Detroit hardness testers are any good. It uses a ball bearing to test hardness. Its in a tube that drops the ball bearing and you see how high it bounces On a Graff ??

That is a rebound tester. It isn't the type of hardness tester you use for a knife blade. You need a penetrator type that reads in Rockwell scale C.
