I was given the perfect test medium for my Kukuuri in the form of a secondary trunk of a Weeping Willow that crashed to earth . I,m kinda glad it fell as it was hung up in the tree which was no good for the tree or for anyone walking underneath . I keep that tree in good condition as its nice to look at and helps stabilise the earth .I,m just glad I didn,t have to climb up to dislodge it .
It has many inch to inch and a half limbs paralell with the ground at waist height which gives me lots of practice .I,m going to start lopping at the trunk of it which is eight inches in diameter once I clear away the branches . Its a nice smooth medium and the knife never hangs up in it . I am practising cutting halfway through a limb and then making a paralell cut in for as long as I can . I also make spear points out of the ends and practice chopping right through limbs to try and perfect my figure eight technique . I am used to follow through but more in a static manner . By this I mean throwing tomahawks/knives. It is a lot easier to complete a motion and slow down without the weight of a hawk in your hands . I find the figure eight technique is great . As in anything else it requires a fair amount of practice .
P:S: On another note . I am a writer of short stories which tend to border on the extreme in subject matter and descriptive devices . I find that this cannot help but bleed over into my every day correspondence . If some of you guys find a few of my posts outlandish it is only my writers eye and imagination taking over .
