Testing Mediums?

If all goes well this week I have a few INFI addicts coming over to my place for some testing and filming to share with everyone later. You know, just having fun. From what I can tell we will have knives to fill most if not all niches. AK's to Game Wardens. I am in the process of gathering up various materials to destroy. :D What kinds of testing mediums do you guys use for chopping, thrusting, cutting/slicing, etc...? I need some ideas to make the most of it. Thanks guys.:thumbup:

Well 2X4's are a must, cutting full 20 oz or 2liter water bottles with the AK and FBM would probably be very fun. Hemp rope, well then there's the obvious choice: cindger blocks;). Heavy carboard is cool, especially if you can get reall thick stuff and make it look like a person and wack it with your AK or work it with your others.

Meat. LOL Get a big ol' side of BEEF, clean your blades really well, and hack that puppy up... Cleanup is really easy, LOL pick up the chunks off of a nice new disposible painter's tarp and/or tinfoil underneath... and GRILL 'em!! 2 problems solved, cutting material, and FOOD, heh-heh! BBQ... TL style. :D:D Yeah, that'd be some video, LOL :D

Remind me never to lend a knife to this guy :p:eek: I'm not chopping a cinder block!!! Not even with someone else's knife!!! That's atrocious!:barf:

We should definitely do the push cutting rope test! Maybe with a finely polished edge and a rougher edge at the same time....or freehanging rope....see how many times we could fold it and still get through.

The possibilities are endless :D

The MythBusters might suggest a big old block of ballistics gel.

But I'm not sure you want to get that 'scientific.'

You might try that ole Japanese favorite -- wet, rolled tatami mats. But be sure you search on the internet and find the proper way to prepare those mats, first. You could go to Bugei, for example...

Since we're talking tough INFI, bamboo would also be interesting. Be aware that there are several types of bamboo.

Plus 1 on that!!! :D :D

Exactly what I was thinkin'!  :p

It would be a sight wouldn't it?!?!? Just imagine your neighbors after that! :D

If you want to test how good the edge geometry is then use semi hard plastic tubing similar to those found on caulking tubes. I have noticed that if my knife slices or push cuts through them in a straight line with ease then it is good to go with anything else.

But of course if you don't care about cutting performance and just want a indestructible edge that can whack on anything without much damage then leave'em thick. It is just that they won't be much good at cutting which is the primary function of a knife ;)

I'd like to see someone take out a backhoe.

I plan to take out my remote control and my old Earthlink modem (both defective) as soon as replacements arrive. I'll post pics.

I recommend kittens.

ive got the kevlar panels all ready.

they have been wimpering in the corner for the last week.

Hey! My neighborhood isn't that bad. :p Or are you saying it would be an "inside" job?

Should I bring some Samoan bodyguards? :D

I'll look for some THICK rope....I've been wanting to do the hanging rope thing...I'll see what else I can find.....I've been pretty content with cutting wood and if at home...whatever I can find. I've done your phonebook test, cut waterbottles, cut beer cans (with beer in them), a free standing candle, and probably a whole lot of other things :p that I can't remember..
