Hello,
about 2 months ago I showed my new Scagel style knife in the custom forum
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=603995
now, last weekend I had the chance to take it with me on a hike and to do some testing
for camp chores, like preparing fuzz sticks, whittling, food preparation, hacking, batoning..

The short, handforged, convex ground and polished, curved 5" blade from O1 performed GREAT on all cutting chores like whittling and food preparation, especeally on push cuts.

Due of the short 5" blade and the strong belly, hacking is not it's strengh, because you want to hit the wood with the straight part of the blade, that turns at about 2" from the guard into the pronounced belly, and 2" from the guard you can't apply much force.
But it hacks good on lighter branches or if neceseary with a baton.

The handle is a pleasure in the hand, absolutly no fatigue after an hour of whittling, cutting, hacking, the top guard is short enough to allow to put the thump on the spine and long enough to allow a 100% secure grip.

After the testing the blade still shaved without any problem.

Result:
This knife is a GREAT companion in the field for camp chores and hunting, especeally when you also have a small slippie (like my SAK Farmer with saw) and an axe if you need to build shelter or for cutting large pieces of wood for fire.
