Testing my HOFSH LE

I took The HOFSH LE for a trip to the forest neat where I live in Denmark.
This was just to see how it would chop different kinds of wood.
WOW am I impressed!!!
This knife is a SUPER chopper and the weight does all the work. Even though the blade is "only" 8" it cut DEEP in to both birch and pine wood.
After returning from the woods I was looking forward to re-sharpening my new knife on my lovely Arkansas stones Boy was I in for a surprise - The knife was still real sharp. Some parts of the blade could still shave hair of my arms.

PS Roy the toxic boy supervised the decision on weather to sharpen the knife or not.

PPS How much value loss did this playing with my knife cost??

PPPS I did not bring my camera to the woods due to the heavy rain, sorry, maybe next time.

Cheers,

André

AWESOME! I have been waiting to see a REAL HOG use one of the mighty HOFSHs. Congrats on using a tool like it was designed! It does look like Stain Boy might have visited you and Toxic.:D

You now have a very rare HOFSH LE - one that has been used. If you ever get ready to sell it, you may have lost the cost of some cheap knife that could have been used instead of the LE. You would have not been concerned at all about the price of the cheap substitute, so in effect you have lost nothing.

Also, this one would sell very quickly, because it would be a guilt-free user for the buyer.

Sweet! My favorite kind of Busse! User!!!! :D:D:D

Welcome back Santi! how'd you escape Dicks basement?

I thought he had you and Devilki chained down there making all those knives. ;)

Andre, is that #27 you used? I thought you were going to use the other higher numbered one. I don't think it will really loose much value, it can always be sent back and refurbished if desired.

Great pics, don't hesitate to put it to use. You can only really enjoy them when you are using them.

No fear about the resale, I've found very little difference between resale prices of new and used ones. And I would have no problems buying a user and paying new or like new price for it. Use doesn't seem to affect the value. Modified knives I have no interest in, used knives I have no problems with

:D:D

HOly smokes, that must have done $12 worth of damage. Don't worry, I'm sure it'll appreciate past that in a few more weeks!

But seriously, it's all in the wallet of the beholder: one steel snob may feel that you've reduced its value by $100, and another may offer you whatever the going rate is, as pine sap is just an asthetic to a Busse. 3 years from now that'll be reaching $1000 value, and a few bucks here or there won't matter.

Congrats on a great test and good day in the woods!

I was just kidding about the value "loss" on the knife.l
I am a abuser all the way. However after cleaning up the knife it lookede like new again.
Randucci Yes it is the #27 from your collection. I saved the #411 as back up and used the #27 instead. I did not want to use the high number and look cheap:D I laso liked the tiger handle better then SNAKE MAGNUM on the #411!!!:D
Like on my rifles more dings more memories and love:D

I was tsting the knife due to the fact that I might bring it to Masambique where I will be capturing and regulating game and hunting Crocodiles.
I was going to bring my old faitfull Trailmaster but I am thinking about taking the Busse.
Maybe tomorrow I will have a showdown between these two knives;)

Cheers,

André

 now that adds a bit of character to the HOFSH! One question did you drink before you started chopping or after?;):D

Might? you should! for those crocodile dundee moments :D

Thats very cool.. I love seeing Busses and rats getting used, seems a shame to me that so many "hard use" knives don't get much use. I havent used my HH, but this is because I want a SFNO as a user.. My camp tramp and one off cam blade battle rat get heaps of use though..

Absolutley nothing!!!!! The fun you had was priceless, wasn't it? :D
Busse knife = $500something?
Sharpening stones = $50
Roy the odd plastic toy = 99 cents
Day out in the wood smashing, chopping, ripping, mauling, crusading, vanquishing anything that gets in your sight with the most infatiguable knife in the ENTIRE WORLD, thus making you lord of the forest.
PRICELESS!

I like the balance of the Trailmaster better for "combat" or fighting sutuations. However I will not be killing the Crocodiles with a knife but rifle. The Buse is one hard to destroy knife and would maybe make a better camp knife.
I will also bring my Busse folder (in my dreams) aaahh the steel hart blade on a Strider like frame with the strong framelock and snake micarta scales on one side and titanium on the other. Yesssss ;) :D

I found out that soft deerskin gloves are nice to have on when you are working for longer periods with the Busse. The handle is a bit rough.

Cheers,

André

I think Walking Man has captured the moment quite well. Reminds me of my childhood - fighting off armys of May Apples until my sword is dripping!

Pricless indeed! :D

Are you interested in selling it at a "greatly" discounted price now that it has been badly beaten and abused? :p

Hello 500,

Great knife!!!!! I love the pic with the rifle, pipe, knife and Africa!!!!

I work in Kenya every couple of years on archaeological expeditions and also smoke a pipe (danish tobacco is some of the best!) Do you smoke or is the pipe for decoration? Also, what exactly do you do in Mozambique? How do the Africans like the knife. Everytime I bring my SHBM and Ergo BM they get a kick out of how tough it is. They even want to trade for it  .

Anyway have fun with the knife and also in Africa!

Dan

Hi All-

500jefferyDK always has the option of sending it back to the factory if he wishes to restore the original sharpening and factory finish! Someday years from now, after my Steel Heart crinkle finish looks really sad, I might send it in for a little Wauseon spa treatment.
