Oh wow...it worked.
So, here is the CS TM knockoff after it was stripped and I did some re shaping of the blade, adding a slight recurve, lengthening the choil, dropping the point slightly to give it a more old time look. As you can see there's a pen line above the edge where I was going to acid wash and create a fake hamon.
I grew fond of this Chinese knife, only problem was the blade came badly warped, the guard rattled and the blade grind wasn't centered.
MTECH has sent a replacement which should be here tomorrow. They were very fast on the turnaround. If it arrives sans the issues of the one in the pic I will be more than happy.
