trying out a drop leg platform with the kz. it's very heavy so I wouldn't necessarily want to hike a long distance with it, but it's easily detachable for putting on and off at a campsite. I could replace the standard teklock with the molle/pals version, but for the test I just used 3 malice clips. The other bag is a maxpedition mega rollypoly for tinder collection.

why is the sheath shiny in the middle? because I took a lighter to it.. I could have re heated the kydex slowly over a broader flame and re-formed the bottom half but it's a sheath for me and I don't really care if it looks bad. if I did it again I'd put a peice of cardboard between the ricasso and sweet spot to avoid the edge=pinch problem. I'm using nuts and bolts because I want to be able to clean the inside complete. I've grown tired of getting grit in sheaths and not being able to do anything about it.

I can't wait to get the maxpedition drop leg medic bag next week. gonna be coooooooooool

Awesome set up.

I found it next to impossible to comfortably carry it with a teklok because of the length of the blade.

Pretty cool Lvc, but your right i'd hate to have to run very far with that Kz hanging on my leg like that. Otherwise I'm sure it will serve its purpose.

it really needs the other modes of carry used for khukuries like inside a seperate belt/across the hips, or baldric. With this set up I can use the platform for other gear (like a water bottle and food pouch) while its strapped to the pack during the hiking.

That design has a lot going for it. I really like the detachable feature and the ability to get inside the sheath for thorough cleaning.

My first thought on the rollypoly was that it looks like the perfect receptacle for decapitated heads of small forest animals.

I'm waiting for the mini rollypoly for a 40oz kleen kanteen, their spartan wallet and their 6x9 padded pouch to arrive next week. If I could find a source for their slikclips I'd get some too. I like the maxpedition line, I just wish it was at condor prices.

you could always throw a bag into it or a sharps container for biohazard materials.

Nice. I really wished I had grabbed some black hawk vests a while ago (worked with a dealer, could have grabbed a couple colors in 3x ). Then I could have attached my big chopper to the vest (no pants falling down then).

Looks like a decent option).

On hikes I usually attach the chopper to the waist strap of the pack.

Thanks for sharing!

Like that modded ss. I keep thinking about taking the tail off my ss, but I actually use that part as a fire striker. That, and I may ned to break a window with it some day.

I'm still considering clipping off the forward edge curve to make it totally flat... I was cutting some potato's with it and being able to bring the edge flat against a cutting board is a definite benefit. but at the same time, eeeeeh

I so want one of these:

I doubt I'd ever use the internal compartment, so I could probably just go with any basic molle platform, but that one comes with the four corner attachment pre-installed.
