i am getting a wider paper grit wheel from the manufacturer that will be 1 1/4" wide. i think this will allow for more control on longer blades and easier sharpening in general. he has been making the wide wheels for years but i just found out he had them through a member in australia.

over the years i have sharpened machetes up to 4' long which were a challenge to do on a 1" wide wheel. its hard to hold a blade over 4' long on a 1" wide wheel and move it across the wheel while keeping it from tilting. i'll make a post letting you guys with the wheels know how it works out.

for sharpening swords, a 2" wide wheel might work great. i know that a 4' machete done on a 1" wide wheel is a challenge. buffing the edge isnt as bad but you dont want to have any distractions with a 4' razor blade in hand.

the brown truck showed up and left my wheel. it must weigh 2 1/2 pounds . at 10" in diameter, it should act like a flywheel and spin like crazy.

my buddy was woking for the government in south america and bought a 4' machete. he was hunting drug dealers and caught several but they wouldnt talk. he told the head guy to step forward and started to ask him who he worked for. the guy told him to go get screwed which didnt go over too well with my buddy. he turned the head guy into a headless guy with the machete. that made the other guys start talking their heads off so they would remain attached. he left the blood stains on the machete.

Friendly persuasion is a great way to get you message across. I highly recommend it. :D

my buddy tried being friendly to the guy but the guy had an attitude. probably from taking too much of the stuff he was dealing. no great loss the way i look at it.
