I mentioned in a previous thread that my daughter and I were headed to Grand Teton National Park for a little camping/hiking trip and promised an update.

We arrived yesterday and had a rainy, then snowy night. I woke up at 3am and cleaned 4" of heavy snow off the tent. Later in the morning it changed back to rain and beat some of the snow down. Fortunately we stayed warm and dry in the tent. And then in the morning boiled up some water on the Esbit stove for some hot chocolate to get the morning off to a good start.

The wildlife is still quite prevalent down in the valley, which has been a thrill for my daughter. We seen several herds of elk, deer and bison. One of the bison heards had 6-7 calves only a few days old. I've seen plenty of bison before, but this was the first chance to see newborns. My daughter also got to see her first moose (actually three); up close just on the other side of a stream.

The weather is supposed to warm, so we should be able to get out and up a little more later in the week, but here are a few pics as a start.

BTW as recommended we did hit Billy's for a giant burger today. Thanks for the recommendation

I was thinking about the two of you this morning when I heard the weather reports. :) That's pretty cool to see the freshly born bison calves.
