Went camping this weekend with Lupawolf and her hubby Ghostwolf. We had an amazing time. Totally primitive camping, no electric, water, nuttin'....we were lucky to have air at the campsite.
It was a hoodlums gathering and we were honored to have Ron and Karen come all the way down from Idaho to hang out with us. Ended up being about a hundred people counting off the top of my head, but that hundred people were spread out over about a 20 acre area with some alot further so it was pretty remote, I loved it.
It was held on a multi thousand acre working ranch, and when I say working ranch, I mean cows coming up to your tent windows in the middle of the night like 1500lb peeping toms.
Did you know that cow patties rehydrate in the rain?......Who knew?
Yea, we got rained on pretty hard for a few hours on Sat., adding injury to insult, our tent blew over in a heavy gust of wind and my lovely wife and I had to stand in the pouring rain to keep the tent from blowing away, for 40 minutes. It was like an endurance challenge.
I ended up walking away from the trade blanket with some really great stuff, including an early Gossman which I've always wanted.
It was a great time for my whole family, but anyway, enough verbage, here's the pics:
Whole lotta nuttin'
Shotgunner's kitchen
Whole lotta knappin' going on
The standoff. My 7lb dog ready to take on a 1000lb cow. What a dumbass
My youngest meeting her future hero, Karen Hood.
Some of my new blades from the trade blanket
Oh and as for the RAT's, they all made the trip. I kept the RC-5 with me the whole time. It did all the food prep and alot of the firewood work. My wonderful wife wore an RC-3 the whole time and used it hard. RC-6 sliced meats and cleaned up some cedar walking staffs, Izula's went on their merry way out into the crowd the first day and made the rounds not coming back to me until about 10 min before I left. My mother stole one of my RC-4's to peel potatoes and cube meat for beef stew.
The RAT's were a hit with this discriminating group of knife users.
