HOLY SCHMOKES!!! I must look away from it's beauty!!!! Where's them dark sunglasses

I looked at the knife and " holly smokes" fell out of my mouth also.

Deadly design and curves. Doesn't get any better than that in my books

Now THAT is a knife!

The curves, the pins, that sinuous handle. And made out of CPM-3V steel!

What's NOT to love?

This is why I joined the BladeForums. Even if I can't afford everything I want...I can at least lay eyes on the finest work. And maybe learn a little something about art and esthetics.

Congratulations on one fine piece of art, Mr. Hossom.

That's got to be one of my favorite of your knives.

Jerry, you have to get your website updated with some of these knives on there so we can look and see what they will cost.

Jer, that's incredible. Seeing your work pushes me to try things...

I think I remember reading somewhere that you used a 4" wheel for these hollow grinds, is that right?

Many thanks, gentlemen.

Keith, I know you're right about my website. The problem is that updating it really means doing it all over again, and I'm fundamentally lazy. That's why I play with steel for a living. Within the next 6 months, I promise. There won't be any prices though, since I am not taking orders and generally set my price based on how well a knife turned out. It varies some.

I use various size wheels. This blade was ground with a 3" wheel on top and an 8" wheel on the bottom. The smaller wheel on top allows me to develop a sharpenable edge in a smaller space. My Retribution series of knives use a 2" wheel on top, and I just got a 1-1/2" wheel to do some new things with.

All my knives are ground on both sides. This blade is 5/32" thick at maximum and I've done similar grinds on 1/8" steel. In fact some of those will be finished in the next couple weeks. To give you some additional parameters on this knife, the maximum width of this blade is ~2". The knife weighs 15.5 oz.

Wow.......... That is a beast of a blade , beastly and beautiful at the same time :D

Very nice Sir.

Nice Jerry, nice... show me one in June my friend, I may need a new toothpick ;)

Dang... really makes me regret not picking one of your blades up when I ran into you at a show several years ago.. Eugene, IIRC... :(
Glad to see you're still making knives, though Jerry! And what's even more amazing about your work is that it has to be held to be fullly appreciated - the balance of even your largest pieces is astounding!

Thanks for the kind comments gentlemen. Well, in your case Piter I use that term pretty loosely. I look forward to seeing you at Blade. I think you owe me a beer or two. How's the little one doing?

Joe, I like to say, "you can't see balance" and that's true. In the kind of knives I make I think balance is vital. Unfortunately we're limited to just two dimensions on the internet. :D

WOW!!! Maybe if I live to be about 150 or so, I MIGHT learn how to design and grind a blade like that! Simply awesome, thanks for the gallery post. Knuck
