Texas knife laws.

I do not live in a large city (I actually live in a small town that considers itself a "city"),And since our wonderful government will not allow me to own a license to carry a handgun I have been considering carrying a large knife for concealed carry (obviously within the Texas law of 5.5 inches, which I consider a large knife anyways),and I have been wondering if it is legal to carry a fixed blade,I have seen other people around town carrying smaller fixed blades in a leather sheath and nobody has payed them any undue attention but I want to conceal the knife (maybe in a custom inside the waistband holster),I am just wondering if a fixed blade will fall under the law as an "illegal" fixed blade (the law says something about "dirks" and "bowie knives"),thanks for any help in advance.

The Texas state law on knives doesn't differentiate between a folder and a fixed blade. So long as it's within the length limit, not a dagger and not a true bowie, its fine.

Btw, Texas is Shall-Issue. They'd only not allow you to get a license to carry a handgun if you under 21, have a criminal record, are a drug addict or crazy.

I am under 21 other than that there is no reason whatsoever they wouldn't issue me one,I honestly don't see the reasoning behind the "under 21" laws like 3 years after my 18th birthday I am going too be such a wise old geezer, but this is not a political forum...Also I just do not want the sheeple to crap their pants when they see me carrying such a large "scary" assault knife with a large capacity clip.

Far as I know that's the law in all states. Gotta be 21. Just like for booze. Oh and just because you are lawfully carrying something openly doesn't mean sheeple won't crap their pants. People with the wrong idea about the law easily outnumber those with the right idea. This essay may interest you: http://weaponlaws.wikidot.com
Everyone, can we please stop with the "assault [object]" "tactical" "large-capacity" jokes? I am on your side with the legal issue, but frankly the wisecracks were never funny. The root of the issue is ignorance, and the ignorant need to be instructed, not mocked, if we want them to agree with us.

Like others have said, there's no difference between a fixed and folder. It just can't be more than 5.5 inches of blade, and can't be one of the specified super scary and dangerous blades.

Gun? No Problem
5.5 inch fixed blade? Yep, good to go.
2 inch switch blade? Felon!

You cannot teach ignorant people I think Feinstein has proved that,or they just would not care.Anyways I am going to conceal the knife,I have this old belt that I cut to fit my ankle,I may strap the sheath to my ankle and have the sheath partially inside of my shoe unless I can rig some kind of inside the waistband sheath that my shirt would cover.I do not need some super expensive knife just a knife that will hold an edge,I may use a 1095 knife blank and go to work on it in the garage with a belt sander and the die grinder.

To the post above:They couldn't count switchblades or collapsible batons into the CHL laws it would make to much sense.

Would this be considered an "illegal" fixed blade?
