Texas knife show, what do I take?

George, take lots of hunting knives. This is the heart of Texas deer hunting country.
Everyone here hunts.

George, I did a show in Austin last year, and certainly my hunters did get handled a lot and sold well. BUT, I also sold a couple tacticals, and most of my follow-up orders have been for tacticals. Be aware there is a 5.5" limit on concealed knives in Texas, so if you do some tacticals with that in mind I think you'll find an interested market. They can own bigger knives; they just can't walk around with them.

There are lots of nice people in Austin. Good luck.

George,
Any of your knives would be great! Definitely anything sharp!
Seriously - hunters and folders are really popular. And anything with your great scrimshaw.
Im looking forward to meeting you at the show.

If I take everything that table is going to be pretty full. I was hoping to whittle down the inventory a bit.

I think you are right about the scrim Gene, a dealer was showing it at the Dallas Safari Club show two months ago and the response was very good.

How does Stag do in that market? or would wood be a better bet for handle material?
Up here hunters prefer dark coloured woods and occasionally stag, light wood simply doesn't sell.

As soon as the Canadian Guild show is over (April 8&9) I will begin working on the inventory for the Austin show.

Thanks again

George, bring Carol hahaha. All joking aside, we would love to see Carol there, maybe someday in the future. George if you are going to consider bringing some knives with the legal limit in mind keep the knife a little short of 5 and a half in., and be sure to measure from the guard to the point of the knife and not just the length of the cutting edge. The law is kind of ambiguous and this is being on the careful side. And also for your info a duel edged knife no matter what length is illegal to carry as well. But is ok to own them. George any knives you bring will be a desired commodity so bring lots.

George,
Bring some cool clothing! Texas is very hot in August. I will not be displaying anything at the show but I will more than likely be there. Hope to see you. I will keep my hands in my pockets and try not to hurt myself! In this part of the country stag seems to do well. As Gene said, hunters seem to do well but bring quite a bit of stuff along, a variety never hurts, especially if everyone else is displaying hunters.

Hey George, I bet folders with Longhorn scales would go over Big in Texas and MOP Co carries cowhorn.
