I haven't done a rasp knife in at least 6 years, finding the heat treatment inconsistent enough to not be worth messing with very often. When I first saw Robert Belcher's Carvex Texas Flag scales, I knew it would take a big knife to do them justice, and this is what I came up with. The 14" overall knife is flat ground from a farrier's rasp, with a convex edge and an 800 grit hand finish. The split guard is stainless, and the full tang is tapered. This one will be at the Lone Star show this weekend.
