TGLB differences?

Has anyone ever tried to piece together a timeline of the TGLB based on the subtle differences in them?

My first one was from 2013. It has a wide fuller. IMAG0844.jpeg

My second one was from 2015. It also had a wide fuller but it also had another groove in the bottom of it. I've seen a few others like this. IMAG1531.jpg

I just got my third one. I'm unsure of the date of manufacture. It has a narrow and more shallow fuller, the spine isn't nuked as hard and the primary was ground a bit thicker than my other two were. 20180812_124001.jpeg

Anybody have a ballpark idea of when the narrow fuller TGLB's were produced? Anybody have any other specimens with notable differences and a date to go along with it?

Mine is similar to yours but in muddy with tan, I placed my order to Busse on 2/29/12 it shipped 4/09/12 if that helps!

There’s a thread mentioning the differences in weight and grinds of the TGLB but I don’t know where. There are two “versions” I know of so far and I’ve owned both.
One has rounded off tubes and a shallow hollow grind and the other has almost a flat grind and flatter edges.
The flat grind version has a “meatier” feel to it. A real BEAST. I sold it not to long ago Because the extra nuked one was a few ounces lighter and I liked the rounded tubes. And you’ll notice the edge is ground thinner and can bite a little deeper.

I believe it was the black coated ones that mostly had the extra nukes edges, but I could be wrong. The variations always fascinated me as well.

There’s a couple threads in regards to variances in the TGLB.
One I recall is Snakebreakers thread "a little battoning ”

By "rounded off tubes" are you talking about the funnel shaped part of the flare? On my blade with the really round spine the funnel is pretty much flat whereas there is some curvature to the flare on the thicker ground one that I just received.

Off hand guess, without researching my guess would be - 8-10 versions maybe more? (on delivered pieces not counting the 2 variations coming)

Well, it gets more swampy than that...

Well (for ~8-inch blades already in homes across the world, not including M's and P's), there are TG's, TGLB's, and TG14's

The TGLB seems to have at least 2 variations all to it's own, as is being discussed here.

Also - for those who think TGLB's did not come with Black Paper, or have doubted it when they see it listed for sale, believe it - I had one, and sold it and the Black Paper was confirmed by the recipient...cool stuff.

The new ones with CBT are .22" stock, .25" longer and no LB treatment, and then there is the .35" NUKE....that's definitely not a TGLB!

Yeah I duffed that one- I thought about it after I posted it the "LB" part was the key I missed :oops:

I'd still like to know the story in the complete edition from the birth of the TG to the present. It's a design that deserves it's own story I just have to believe.

Was not trying to be a jerk, it's just that all the Busse stuff gets crazy with the acronyms and nomenclature, and I was more writing it as a testament to the zaniness of Busse-land...

Hey no way thought that at all :D ~ small critical details and I are sometimes not in the same room ;) More of a general concept aficionado LOL!

Yep. That TGLB you sent me and that is pictured above is definitely wearing black paper.

Oops I meant the outside of the tubes are rounded (as are all outside edges of the knife) the funnel itself is flatter on mine as well.
