TGLB for first Busse?

I've had a Swamp Rat Ratmandu, which I've since let go because the handle was too small for my hand. I want to try my first Busse. I'm looking for a largish camp chore knife with some tacticool styling and I'm looking hard at the TGLB. I dig double handguards and have learned to work around them. I can make my own kydex, but it's been a while so I think I might get something made by SkyStorm leather.

Is the TGLB available without the coating?

I know that Busse does knives a few models at a time, any idea when the shorter ("-M" I think they're called) TGLB will be made again?

I've read plenty of reviews, but any additional thoughts on the TGLB would be appreciated.

My first Busse was a TGLB, Tanker Grey with Black G10. I love it. Get one and you will not regret it. I do not think you can get them uncoated, but some people have removed the coating. Personally, I like the coating. Just my .02.:)

I think the Team Gemini LB is a great choice for your first Busse. We have had many customers buy the TGLB as their first and we have heard nothing but good things! It is a very versatile blade. Good luck with your decision! Let us know if we can answer any questions for you

No, you cannot get an uncoated TGLB anymore direct from Busse. You may be able to find older Comp Finish version on the resale market, but will probably pay something of a premium for them.

Don't wait for the M version, it may be years in the offing, if ever.

The TGLB is a CLASSIC!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

Grab one while their available thru the website...

I own 2 TGLB...one is a Black paper micarta Comp. & the other is a stripped Black canvas micarta...

The paper mic. is very handsome & it's in the dark recesses of my gun safe for my son to inherit one day...

The canvas mic. has been "put thru the paces" by yours truly, for instance:

I've stripped its coating with noxious chemicals, sanded it, sharpened it, batoned hickory with it & a Harbor Fright deadblow hammer, thrown it at wood slaps & round bales of hay, dug fire pits with it, processed cardboard from appliances with it, delimbed loblolly pine trees felled from ice storm with it, opened envelopes & packages with it, cut open a watermelon, AND MUCH MORE!!!

IT HAS NEVER LET ME DOWN & THE "PRIDE OF OWNERSHIP" IS VERY HIGH WITH THIS MODEL!!!

have I already said "GRAB ONE NOW!!???" :p

BTW...resinguy's right...love nor money will get you a Comp Finish TGLB thru the Busse store, unfortunately and you will have to pay close to 40-100% more for one on the secondary market

then again, strippers...er, uh...stripping (a Busse) is fun! :o

Very satisfied with mine, and prefer the longer blade over the M...;-)

TGLB was also my 1st Busse. I bought 2 that were stolen out of my car. So I had to buy 2 more.

Currently have a Tanker Grey/black micarta user and a Tanker Grey/black-green G10 put away for my son.

The NMSFNO is another great choice but not currently offered.

Get the TGLB while its offered. Once you get it you'll want more. The BF is exchange is the place

Thanks for the responses everyone, I'll have to try one out.

It's a great blade! It was my first dive into any of the bussekin blades, and I love it! Pairs well with a SYKCO Mud Mutt, so if you ever get the chance to grab one of those as well, DO IT! Anyways, it's a great choice for a first piece of infi IMO.

Perfect choice. It can do some (lighter) chopping, you can choke up for camp chores, it makes a defensive weapon (pray to god you never need a knife as a defensive weapon) in a pinch, you can lash it to a pole to make a spear...it's pretty fantastic. It's honestly my favorite Busse, I have several of them. My only problem is deciding which color I like best lol.

Excellent first choice Busse.
What has already been said....Great light chopper, camp knife, defense knife and utility blade.
I have 3 of em which speaks for itself.
Many ways to hold the knife with the front guard too....adds to versatility!;)

I have sold a couple of folks on making the TGLB their first BUSSE knife and they were extremely happy with their purchase.
The word "awesome" is so over used these days so I will just say that it's an extremely versatile multifunction knife with near perfect balance.

Oh...what da heck! It's an AWESOME knife!

The TGLB is a great knife! I would choose the tanker gray with either black canvas or the tan/black G10.

The construction of the TGLB makes it handle better and faster than most of the other full-tang knives in its size class with the possible exception of the SARGE 7, which is no longer available. The LB treatment of the tang, the hollow grind and fullers give it a very light, very fast feel in hand, and at full thickness it is just about unbreakable as a pry/breaching tool. Great choice for a first Busse if you like a double guard.
