TGLB vs SARGE 7

Hello there, everybody. I'm getting ready to buy my first piece of INFI this month and was pretty much dead set on the TGLB until I ran into the SARGE 7. Both are right in the size range that I'm looking for, and both seem to be very versatile blades. I'm looking for an all around camping/hiking/utility knife and since both are about the same size and the same steel, I'm not sure if the choice essentially comes down to aesthetics or if there's something that I'm missing. If anybody has any experience with either, or information/opinions, I'd love to hear it. Thank you for any and all feedback!

I like the SARGE's handle. It's a bit oversized for a good grip, and has no generic contours that may not match your hand's size. I also like that the blade curves forward a bit from the handle, and that it takes up less space than the TGLB; it's kind of slimmer and more streamlined, or at least it feels that way.

A lot of people expect not to like the rear guard on the Team Gemini, but it shouldn't get in the way if you have joints in your fingers. Still, I would probably pick the SARGE. It's so extremely comfortable, and also more immediately available.

TGLB easily win for me, look much cooler and you can still get it directly from Busse Website:thumbup:

Easy, Get both. :D

When the Sarge came I thought it was sheer awesomness right up until the TGLB came in. It has better contoured handles though I think the Sarge would feel better if my mitts were bigger. I like them both though and they are pretty much the same size.

I vote TGLB on this one for a few reasons.....

-The edge will be thinner than the SARGE, and will stay thinner after repeated sharpenings
-The handle contours lock the hand in nicely, even when choked back for chopping.
-The shallow hollow grind allows it to chop above it's weight.

There is a basic principle on structure design for beams, the more edges the part has, the stiffer, and in "my knife world" that also equals to preferred aesthetics...Over the time I have learned to love the TGLB for its looks only. but it also looks very well thought-out (as in very well designed) to be the most functional Mark2-kind-of-knife available.

I would go for the TGLB over anything with that purpose... PLUS...YOU KNOW FOR SHURE THAT IT CAN KILL ZOMBIES BRO...NOT MANY BUSSES HAVE DONE THAT...

My vote's for the SARGE. If it's a camp knife, the guards are just extra, unnecessary weight, that could possibly get in the way. The hollow grind of the TGLB has less steel behind the edge than the flat-ground SARGE, decreasing strength. SARGE is satin finished, and due to it's stream-lined design, offers a smaller footprint than the TGLB, while maintaining the same cutting edge. On the other hand, as tierraventura pointed out, the TGLB has been proven to kill zombies... if your objective is thrusting the blade into skulls of walking corpses (or any thrusting really), then that guard would def be a selling point for me. And the TGLB is about $50 less expensive, so you can get a knife+sheath for the same price as the SARGE w/out a sheath. Good luck with your knife hunt!

I have both and only used the tglb which imptessed me a lot. If choosing the 2 by design the sarge. The tglb is much cooler though. The sarge had to be touched up edge wise but I really like it.

I had ordered both, but the Sarge came first. I had not really planned on using it, just having, but once I got it, I cancelled the TGLB:
1) The Sarge is AMAZINGLY light for such a big(ish) knife, and at least for my large but bony hands, the handle fits real well.
2) I don't think that the coating on the blade is anything more than a way of producing it cheaper :) I don't mind it on safe queens, or big choppers, but anything smaller, that might be used for food or first aid, should be bare steel. I actually begged for a TGLB in double cut, but was told it aint possible, and the so-called competition finish isn't really a finish, just an unfinished base to spray on the coating ;)
3) I don't need two 7" knives that are so similar otherwise.

This is my opinion, and copyrighted, so you can't really adopt it, share it, or whatever one does with opinions :D

Actually...no it hasn't. Only the original version of the Team G has killed "walkers" so far! ;)

...But I'm sure that the TGLB would be up to the task too. :D

Holly Crap Jaxx...Are you saying that all those who got the lighter version are not protected against zombies?...that is a rather serious assertion we need you to clarify that once and for all...we don´t want people panicking right now!!!!

Dunno! No proof... Guess we gotta get Busse to get them tested!!! ;) :D:D

They're pretty much the same size, so just buy the one you like better. Then buy the other. ;)

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! After much consideration, I've decided to go with the TGLB, though I'm sure the SARGE will show up sometime soon as well. With that being figured out, my last question is, what (if any) are the perceptable differences between micarta and G-10? Thanks again everyone!

Micarta has a rougher texture than G-10 so it's grippier, even when wet (a few people find the other way around to be true). G-10 is supposed to be harder, but unless you're smashing it with a maul, it shouldn't matter. They are both pretty hard and tough. And since you're asking about perceptible, G-10 has more color options.

Micarta is has absorbent qualities, whereas g10 does not. G10 can be polished up shinier than canvas micarta (not sure about paper micarta). I think g10 is more resistant to most strippers... which might save you money in the long run.:D
