TGLB with top guard removed?

I've tried searching for this but BF's search function has left me wanting.

Anyone have a team gemini with the top part of the guard removed/ground down?

My all time favorite busse blade profile is the dog soldier 8... if you want that blade profie with something other than Res-C (and res-c kicks a$$ don't get me wrong), a gemini with the top guard removed comes pretty darn close. Anyone had that done/could throw a couple pics my way?

I had REK take my top guard off my BG Gemini and reprofile it's awesome
I think Al had an original Gemini no light brigade

Honestly? I got a hr2 and ds6. I haven't had the pleasure of a ds8.... yet... but I'd say hr2 would fit the bill you want. The team Gemini handle doesn't do much for me in general. I'd GUESS an hr2 would do it for ya.


Although my ds6 is danm close to perfection. It's my all around user and beater up here in AK. Almost feel bad for the dents I've put in the knife. Almost.

Thanks for linking that thread. Yeah definitely interesting - my thoughts would tend to lean towards just taking that top guard off and leaving the bottom. I swear I've seen a picture of that mod done before but I can't find it for the life of me.

I've always been a sucker for fullers and the ds8 and all the tglbs just integrate them so elegantly - it just fits proportion-wise with the blade in such a great way to my eyes. I've never been huge on the looks of the cbt, though I don't doubt its functionality - that's what keeps me away from the HR2...
 
I'm with TheMtnMan TheMtnMan . Single-guard or no-guard TG is not necessary for me. For choked-up cutting, index finger in front of lower guard locks the knife HARD into my hand with the top guard in the web between index and thumb. Best control I have ever felt for cutting, and the choil is large enough you don't need to worry about nicking your index finger. Or at least I don't.

Although... I do have a TGA2 that might make a good test bed.... 🧐🤔
 
I was never a fan of the top guard on the TG, it just feels unnecessary.
I prefer the DS8 myself and I'd love an AD8 if it ever happens.

I'll try and find one. Right now I'm traveling and everything is done with my phone. I may have posted pics here in a thread. It looks like Al's but with bottom guard left on. I think Al's looks cooler, but I am glad, after using it, I kept the bottom guard. 🍺🍺🤘
