After a year of no camping, thanks to Covid 19. I am eagerly awaiting spring and camping season. One of my favorite camping chores is splitting firewood. I usually do this near the fire pit at the campsite. The last trip we had, over a year ago. I put a Ratmandu and a Ratweiler to work. They did excellent!
The beautiful weather today inspired me to split some wood to bring along on our next trip. This time I put the TGULB to use. It’s a DCBB black g10 model. This blade is killer! It did a great job splitting firewood. I think it will make an excellent all around camp knife with that extra super cool factor too! 0AF28334-DF6E-4839-BB1E-4756162B4EDD.jpeg312C8A03-3CE3-483E-8651-F4000F2216A8.jpeg7853212A-C131-4C51-9CC7-EE14AA5709AB.jpeg4ACD7E08-B3E5-47EA-9971-0DFBCCBCDC82.jpeg
Please feel free to add some pics of those user TG’s

Mine is on order!!! I have the Blk w/Red & Blk G-10 coming and looking forward to using it. Great pics Brother and I see someone else like to use a deadblow.
Nice combo! Please post pics of that one. Dead blow is the way to go. Plus harbor freight has them for less than 10 bucks. Can’t go wrong.

While the TGULB wouldn't be my first choice as a camp knife (I see it as being a fighter first & utility second) it certainly should do well enough. I used to use my old Taliwhacker LE as a camp knife years ago and it worked good, also used a SAR 8 Bowie for a bit too (that one was awesome!). If I had to choose one knife only, it would be something geared towards fighting first ( knowing it can do the camp knife stuff too).

Great color combo you got there! Love the look of the Black G-10 w/ Double Cut or Satin, classy!

Nice Combo there...
I'm right there with you about enjoying splitting wood/making fire, I'm always the fire guy when we go camping or day trips, one that stood our for me,, I remember Skinny ASH-1 did great (surprisingly not too short) I believe I got it from Tinfoil Hat Timmy a long time ago. (Maybe)

Count me in the TGULB camp knife.... camp. Last time I went camping (back in November), my DCBB with blk Micarta did camp duty the whole time. Split wood like a boss. And, it carried light enough that it went with me on all hiking, lightly loaded. No problemo. Are there others that can do just as well? I'm certain there are. But I personally would be hard-pressed to figure out which one would actually do better, for what I was doing. MAYBE an older Hellrazor, with the thin, 6" blade. Or one of the BGHRs? I dunno.... I really like the LOOK of the HR, and it has done great work around the house here, cleaning up after storms or tree-felling. But for moving about and retaining capability... the TGULB gets the nod.

I love my TGULBs for outdoor use. I appreciate the slightly thinner blade, as Infi is plenty tough, and I find the handle to be more comfortable for me personally than the TGLB. Just a really fantastic all-around knife that is super dependable.

Stop it! Just stop it!

Otherwise, ima gonna hav to break down and get one of these. And that will cut into my blaster budget.

Might just have to sell some things. Best learn how to post pics. (don't get me started!)

Not to shed a shadow on this post because it is a great knife. But have you seen the Forsaken Steel heart with Nano Fusion Handle and nuclear Option? Also a great all around Knife. I love Jerrys Designs.

I have a nuked NF-FSH... Absolutely LOVED IT until the HR2 (better handle for me)... Then the TGULB came around (better all around). Still like the aesthetics of the nuked NF-FSH... But the other ones just have it beat (for me).

I have one of those old postal scales which has been used for years. My special edition in A2 clocks in at 1.25 pounds, while the shorter A2 version is around 1.1 pounds. The TGULB weighs in at 0.9 pounds and feels really good in the hands. Actually, I liked the weight of the skinny version from the very first time I hefted the blade. While I would not call this a camp knife, it comes pretty close! If I am going to grab one of these iterations for use in camp, I will certainly opt for the lighter tool. The TGULB is a great all-rounder/fighter that blends good looks and functionality.

Just for grins: my Dogfather is somewhere around 1.2 pounds and would be more stout option if you insist on pounding your blade into submission. The 1311 is just 1.1 pounds and is an excellent short machete which may be my first choice as a survival tool.

Just to pile on more, I just got back from a camping trip in the Shenandoahs. Ended up taking the same TGULB as before. I pondered over the NF-FSH and the HR2 (as well as a couple other options). But in the end, the TGULB won out again. And did not disappoint. It is that good.

Agreed!

And when I think of the comparatively lame knives I used to deep-woods camp with in the 1980’s.

They worked. But still had to tote a hatchet for the larger objectives. And a machete for brushwork.

I’ve got several Bussekin that would cover all those bases. Battle Rat, Dogfather, SHSH2. And many others.

414g vs 774g

That's the difference between a DCBB & Maroon TGULB vs a Cerakoted HOG Gemini with Micarta handle. 360g difference. That's almost half of the HOG Gemini.
