Gotta love busse acronyms lol

Anyway, recently picked up a tgulb, my first busse in a few years. David is making me a mutant sheath for it, totally excited!

Anyone got a pair of calipers and can measure thickness of the tgulb? (Mine isn't here yet) how much in durability do they give up compared to the tglb? Anyone got pics of them (in use especially, but any pics will do) I can eye ball while I wait? Post em up!

I've had:

Fat ash1
Sob
Axe hammer
Swatmandu
Rmd
Infidu
1311
Park ranger
Active duty

Sold most of them (regretting that now 🤬) still got the 1311. Recently got to looking for a rmd/infidu/swatmandu again and damn they got hard to find. Also regular tglb's got hard to find too, rarer than hens teeth around this popsicle stand.

Random ass thread, I know lol Been out of the busse game for awhile, went to the meeting at blade in 2017 and met a bunch of cool people. Hopefully if blade goes on as normal I can make it down there again.

Well welcome back !!! 👍👍 I don’t have a tgulb yet but I need some :) As for the thickness , my infi ratweiler is .21 (?) and I love it !!!!
Thanks!

.2 ish is a great thickness, should make for a stout knife that can still cut well. I don't think I've held a tglb handle before but it's always looked very comfy. Hopefully it lands tomorrow and I'll throw some pics up of me giving it it's first using. Then maybe a nice shinyedge on the edge pro apex 4 😁

I don’t think you’ll have any problems with durability unless you just wail on hardened steel with it. I don’t have a tgulb but I do have an A2 TGM (same grip style) and it’s very ergonomic to my hand. No hot spots and feels good in multiple grips.

Infi doesn't care about .04" thinner stock vs. 1/4", honestly you shouldn't either. Now, if we're talking A2, SR-77 or SR-101 then I'd say it may be more important. That said, I've had both and I really dig the TGULB for what it is. The TGLB is right up there with it though and the differences are slight between the two. I actually also really dig the Forsaken Gemini, if you can find one of those.

I agree, I'm not worried about it, just curious since it's been lightened quite a bit what if any potential tangible trade off there might be. I think lighter definitely makes it more carry friendly which is worth the weight reduction. 7 years ago I lugged the fat ash 1 around everywhere lol

Saving some weight is more up my alley now 😁

I didn't know what the tglb thickness was so I wasn't sure how much had been thinned down, or if they run below .2 hundred thou and if so how much. I'm a Machinist/cnc programmer number nerd.

But I have zero doubts jerry made the knife very stout.

Meh - go to break the sumbish, Chris! Jerry will give you a new one if you do.

Between the two thicknesses in question I’ve never had any concerns something would break. The fat ash is a chonk, so if you’re looking to save some weight I think you’ll really dig the one that’s coming.

Took my calipers out for ya:

TGLB A2 Ed. Kryptek Cerakoted: 0.252"
TG1 Comp. Finish: 0.251"
TGULB Combat Grade: 0.208"
TGULB Comp. Finish: 0.200"
Thank you kindly! So the DC should be right in that ballpark (as if a few thou matters lol 🤣)

Busse has the best warranty!

I'll start a thread to document some good hard use on camping trips and around the house once I have had it awhile, I think we all appreciate pics of busse knives working 😎

I’ve had a FTG, a TGULB, and a TGM, all with G-10 handles. The TGULB feels the best in my hands, which I credit to the Nuclear Meltdown treatment.

Made an ugly but very functional leather sheath too, while I wait for the mutant to be made.

Can confirm, I got a forsaken gemini in my grab bag and it is superb.
