Ain't she sweet. Thamar has some real talent too. Have a few of his knives and they never disappoint.

Thamar understood how a knife should feel in the hand, always beautifully balanced for their purpose. These Bowies he made are maybe the best example of that. Great find and offer Auntie!

Thamar has got to be one of my favorites.
I love his Samsher I have. Beautiful and great balanced!!

How long is the handle, and cutting edge length ? I do love a shiny blade.
Mine:
Primary edge 9.75"
Back edge 3.25"
Handle top of guard to end of pommel 5 &3/8 "
Grippable handle behind guard, before pommel along the back 4.25"

Hope that makes sense

I have one of these with a bone handle. Very similar to the one posted above, but heavier (29 oz). The guard on mine is a bit wider and the steel pommel has an s-curve where it meets the scales. This is a fine blade with an unusual two-piece steel guard. It is comfortable in the hand. However, if you want to choke up on the guard, or wrap one finger around the guard, you will probably need to round off the edges of the guard with a fine file. That should be pretty easy to do.

I don't think mine was made by Thamar, but I haven't been able to identify the kami mark. It looks like an arrow pointing toward the tip of the blade with a dot over the point of the arrow.

I could swear that I've seen this kami mark before, but I haven't been able to find it online or in the current images of kami marks posted in the HI forum sticky links. If anyone can provide links to some of the kami mark pages out on the web (besides the one at the HI web site), I'd appreciate it.

I've seen kami marks by Hari and Santosh that had a similar arrow, but in both cases the images were too fuzzy to be sure, and the devangari initials were unclear.

Problem solved. Mine was made by Padam Kami (perhaps better known for the Padam Suga Knife), and was called the Padam Bowie Knife when originally sold. This is the only picture I have at the moment, unfortunately in the sheath, but the sheath is just as nice as the knife:

I believe this is the first "Bowie" style knife Thamar made. Only one was made as far as I know. It dont have a clip point so it aint really a Bowie but I sure do like it.

That right there is a serious skull crusher! It really helps balance these large blades too. This is still one of my favorites.
