Thamar Samsher from DOTD:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1255140-Thamr-Samsher-and-Yuvraj-M-43-for-1-22
Specs:
18" overal
31 ounces
Drop 2.910"
Spine thickness at bolster=0.314"
Spine thickness 1 inch behind tip= 0.235"
Handle length 6"
This is a blade worthy of its own class! Not quite sure what to think of it yet but this piece is definitely like none other in my collection. When I first pulled it from the sheath I thought it looked like my Yek Chirra from Thamar but it felt quite different. If you ever had the opportunity to handle a Hanshee you might know what i mean. It has the drop reminiscent of a weapon for flesh removal if you know what I mean. Upon a bit of examination the first thing I noticed was the overtly obtuse almost Ang Khola edge but it quickly terminated into a nice flat to the spine. No chirras just simple form. Quite confusing. What it this blade supposed to be! It has a very forward weight distribution that makes it feel like an Ang Khola but also the Hanshee shape of a light fast fighter. I will say I dont have anything like this in my collection so far and the closest thing I can think it may resemble is the Curved Spine made by Thamar (wich I dont have) but the drop is Hanshee. The handle is also more like a hand and a half sword hilt. Maybe some one more educated can tell me more but my impression is this Samsher was made for a warrior with a purpose. OK ill shut up now and show you what i mean.
Note the extended handle and drop compared to Thamars Yek Chirra. The blade has a very similar profile but thats about it.
Spine thickness is about 3/8" and nice distil taper chiruwa handle. The scales on this one are really nice as well. Another nice accent is the addition of brass around the pins on the handle.
Double peened on the end with no keeper.
Simple elegant and bad to the bone.
Check out this balance point. Way forward! Yall dont worry about my finger now its mine! Ill do what i want to with it
Curved spine dogo in the back
Simple elegant but like none other. These are special blades guys. After I shot these pics I did a bit of bush whacking and playing around but this weight and drop is going to take a bit to get used to. Not like the other guys im telling ya:thumbup: Did I say WICKED!
