Check out this heroic fish rescue story! The comments afterwards are priceless - ranging from uber-vegan love hugs to cold logic concerning the effects of salt water on a fresh water fish...

Fish Savin' boy

I'm surprised he didn't take the fish out on his ship, the "SS Raging Queen" and let him go further upstream.
No wonder the world thinks we're all weird.:jerkit::barf:

I just want to grab that guy by his shirt and shake him until he's bleeding out of his eyes and ears.

I'd also do the same to all the people telling him what a great things he's done. Idiots.

Just think -- before blogs and digital cameras there was no incentive to do a thing like that. Imagine holding forth at a party, "Let me tell you how I saved this fish ..." -- nobody would have believed you really did that. In fact if you wanted to tell the story you wouldn't have actually done it; you'd have just made it up. But now, with a digital camera to record the proof and the internet to post it on -- 'twas technology saved the fish!

If you really want to be scared, read the comments below. A bunch of these idiots want to be him. Just another example, Darwin was so wrong. :(

If you buy FHM Magazine, then know that you funded this little folly.

The guy works for FHM, so the money to buy this fish and pay the cab and everything presumably came from his FHM paycheck. And the money for that paycheck came from sales of FHM subscriptions, newstand sales, and also sales of ads in FHM. But ad revenue is driven by subscription and newstand sales. So, no matter how you look at it, if you're buying FHM, you paid for this.

And the guy who took the pictures works for Maxim.

The moral -- at the risk of getting this thread sent off to W&C -- buy Playboy; at least they spend the money on things we can at least enjoy vicariously.

speaking of college after reading this I just wonder why I quit and missed my chance at all these outstanding classes

In reviewing their comments on some of the classes, it's important to keep in mind that "Marxist" does not necessarily mean just the writtings of Karl Marx himself. There's a whole school of authors described as "Marxist." It's sort of a popular thing right now.

The Unbearable Whiteness of Barbie: Race and Popular Culture in the United States at Occidental College in California explores ways “which scientific racism has been put to use in the making of Barbie [and] to an interpretation of the film The Matrix as a Marxist critique of capitalism.”

Yeah..... I know I always think of Barbie and The Matrix together. It's an obvious pairing. NOT!

I wish I had the money to do stupid things like that during my free time.

When I think about all the worthless carp I've tossed back into the water... I could have charged this guy $2.80 a lb to do the same thing. :D

The whole thing seemed like more of a joke than some sort of PETA/ALF liberation. The tone is more tongue in cheek than outraged and sanctimonious (which tends to be the common tone of PETA members). I think homeboy was just looking for something silly to do to post on his blog. Just think how much traffic he's getting from Bladeforums alone. Bloggers love hits like crackheads love rocks.

Young sir,what/who is FHM? This inquiring ancient is totally & utterly baffled .
Does it have to do with those PETA [:barf: ] people ?

Recently our local and Fed Goverment around here spent 2 week and over $15,000 to move 4 snails from a local rive back to a river in Tennessee where they said they belong???????????? If they belong there how did they get here? In the process of doing this they shut down a main road for 2 weeks caused traffic jams. Over 4 freakin snails, people are stupid.

Whoever introduced those snails into that river sure is stupid. It's a good thing they were removed before they became 4 million snails.

Some dopes dumped a bunch of hydrilla into the Potomac River - now much of the river is no longer navigable by small craft because the hydrilla wraps around the prop shaft. Then some other dopes dumped a bunch of snakehead fish in there too. Now the snakeheads are eating all the other game fish. I wish someone had come along and gotten rid of them when there were only a handful of them - too late now.

The list of destructive introduced species goes on and on: gypsy moths, kudzu, medflies, african bees, fire ants, nutria, zebra mussels, European starlings, monk parakeets, etc. Any money spent to head off these infestations before they became enormous and expensive problems would have been money well spent. Too bad it was not done.

It's asinine, insipid, self-righteous granola munchin' wanna be nature boy druid A-holes like him that brought freakin' carp to Alaska. (they are NOT native here), and we don't want them.

Anytime someone releases a non-native species into the wild they mess up the entire natural balance.

Same things happening now with idiots releasing domestic rabbits into the wild. They're introducing diseases to wild rabbits, breeding with them, and lowering the immune systems, pretty much starting to hurt the wild rabbit population up here.

Incidentally even if the fish was native to that area, I still think the guys a moron.
