I posted a message (my first) about two weeks ago. Just wanted to say thank you to all of those who took the time to reply, and assist me in my choice of Camp-knife.

Being a relative newcomer to this page I am trying to improve my sharpening tedhniques (which at this point are pretty bad). I have been reading all of the sharpenig info I can find and have even ordered The Razor Edge Book of Sharpening. One thing puzzles me though:I don't understand whether a convex or flat bevel is better on a Khukuri (or any knife in general for that matter), as well as the best method of sharpening it. Any suggestions?

Convex, on a khukuri. It tends to split the wood a bit better than a regular flat. Also, adds a bit more metal to the edge for strength.

Theorties aside, I don't really notice much of a difference between the two edge profiles on my khukuri's. The H.I. khukuri's cross sectional profile helps a lot to prevent binding while chopping.

Check out the FAQ for sharpening tips.
