Hope it's ok that I posted this here because I wasn't sure if it was more fit for community. I have never posted on this forum before, but I just created an account because I wanted to tell all of you thank you. I just finished my 7th knife and there is no way I could have done it without blade forums. There was so much involved with this knife that I had never done before (etching, soldering brass, dremeling, filework, etc.), and there is no way I could have done it without the help of this community. So here it is

It has brass bolsters and camel bone handles. Everything was cut from stock purchased from jantz (billets, scales, spring) except for the brass bolsters which I melted and poured by hand. There is virtually no blade play in this knife at all and it is sharp enough to shave hair. Once again, thank you so much guys. This is a hobby I never imagined I would have but this community is one of the best.

Very cool project, thank you very much for sharing it here in the General area

Thank you for posting about your very enjoyable work of art ! ! ! !
I like it and look forward to seeing your next creation.
This is what it's all about.

Do you have any WIP pictures of this or any other knife you've made? We love pictures ;):)

I actually forgot to mention, the blueprint for this was hand-sketched and purely based off of my one other experience with a folder (it turned out awful :poop:).

Here's that and some other WIP pics from this knife

And the brass I melted down (it doesn't go very far)

I don't have pictures of my first knife because I gave it to my dad on father's day, but it had a crude looking, unbeveled, non heat-treated blade that was fixed in an antler with Gorilla glue.

Here is the second one which was my first folder (I did it mainly to see if I could and I learned a lot from it). For example, since the blade was cut from another knife and already hardened, I had to get masonry bits to drill through it. Here's a picture

This is my third knife (with one of those sheath kits). It too was not hardened but I thought the anodized look was cool so I did that with a torch. I decided last minute to turn it into a gut knife and the gut hook is actually surprisingly sharp. It has walnut handles and you can't tell much from these pics but it's full tang

This is my fourth knife. Cut from a file that I annealed, it wasn't hardened again either, but it still ended up the hardest one I had made thus far because it was previously hardened. I caught and froze this rattle snake, and later thawed it out and stretched the skin over an oak handle which made the color pop. I covered it in epoxy to keep it from tearing. I also just bought my polishing wheel but did not yet have a belt sander for beveling so the bevels look very crude. (Also added a pic of a mouse I found inside of the snake)

This is my fifth knife and a few WIP pics. It was cut from a lawnmower blade and this one was, FINALLY, hardened and beveled :D. Probably one of my best HT to be honest. The handle was just a paracord wrap because I thought it looked cool.

And my sixth knife is a railroad spike that I forged on an anvil that I had just inherited from my great grandfather. It is probably one of the sharpest but it probably won't stay that way.

And that's all of em. I only had two failed blades (one was just crap steel), and I have two blades that are unfinished because I wanted to make this nice folder for myself before I move and have no more access to my shop.
