About a half-hour ago, literally, I witnessed an accident.
It was nothing bad, but nevertheless, it was an accident.
I was walking across the road to the neighbor's house, and the lady went off the road with her SUV, and clipped the guard rail with the passenger side.
Back end went up in the air, and almost all of the right-front-side was gone.
Leaking anti-freeze, broken bumper etc.
So I ran over to her (because the road was now dead) and asked her if she was OK.
She said yes, got out, and went over to see the fresh-damage and just said: "Oh god..."
I made sure she had a cell-phone, and told her she could come into the neighbor's house to warm-up and call people.
"Ok, thank you" was all she could say.
Now, this is the part that just baffles me.
Someone comes whipping up behind her, trying to get by, and someone else is coming down the other side of the road.
God-forbid they have to wait 10 seconds to continue down the road.
They then begin to LAY on the horn.
The other car finally goes by and they pull up beside her, they roll down the window, and begin screaming at her.
"GET OUT OF THE ROAD YOU DUMB B***H!!!!"
Then sped away.
Seriously? Is that what the world has come to now?
They didn't stop to help.
They didn't ask if she was OK.
They didn't offer a ride.
They didn't offer a cell phone.
Nothing, but add to the distress.
This made me realize just how important it is to be nice to people, and Im happy to say that there are plenty of nice people on this site.
It's not even a site. It's a community.
There are so many people on here just super eager to help.
Thanks guys and gals, for helping to create such a great place that I am proud to be part of.

We might get made fun of a lot down here in the south, but one thing we do is look out for one another, IF you for any reason what so ever have had to pull over you can bet someone will come along to help you, As far as the guy who came along yelling at the lady , We also respect our women and elders down here, You did the right thing Bladeboss, Character is built when you do the right thing even when no one is around to see it, remember that and youll go along way in life, I'm sure that lady is very grateful to you for your help. I recently had a flat tire at 3 A.M. on the way home from work , Before I knew it I had 2 cars stopped just to hold flashlights for me and just about every car that passed asked if We were O.k. needed any more assistance, or if I had wrecked and needed police or E.M.S. or anything else. Southern Hospitality is still alive and kicking.

Kudos to you, Bladeboss, for stepping up where others refuse to do so.

Kudos for stopping and checking up on her bladeboss. A lesson learned. Be prepared and don't expect help from anyone else. Too many idiots out there.

I was going to hit the quote button and decided not to, the whole darned thing is a good read...

Anyways welcome to whats wrong with the world...

AND

Thank you bladeboss, for making a difference in a persons life, with any luck this person will remember this and help others, maybe not in the same way you helped her, but in any way she can.

Sounds familar.Are you in NJ/NYC/MA/CT?

In South NJ the old lady would have been yelling at him for stopping to help, then she would accuse him of causing the accident, and probably sue him and win. The guy that rode by wouldn't have yelled out the window because he wouldn't be clever enough to think of anything to say. He would have just driven as close as possible to the two of them in a pickup truck that looks like a toy you'd buy for a four year old and lay on the horn, which sounds like a boat horn, then spun his tires as he was leaving.

Wow,I thought they were friendlier upstate.Still could have been one bad apple.Good on you for doing the right thing.

Maybe a bit. But it's probably because you're less likely to run into people like that further north because the population is less dense.
