First, let me thank you all for the warm welcome kind words, when I told you how pleased i was with my new Ang Khola 'Lite' last month.
I've been absent from the forum since then, for reasons I'll explain shortly.
I mentioned in my earlier post that my wife is blind, that's true, she has some limited vision, narrow angle and very blurry, in fact the part of her brain that normally processes vision is dead. the only reason she has any vision at all is because some unknown other part(s) of her brain have started processing vision. The doctors have no idea how or where her vision is processed.
I only mention this because, obviously, under these circumstances, the two things she is most emphatically NOT allowed to play with is Fire and Sharp things.
So I could hold my Khukuri, let her see as best she could, and touch the spine, the blade flat, the handle and the sheath. All the while I'm extolling the virtues of the Khukuris from HI, and , of course, mine in particular. She agreed it was beautiful.
Then she asked if they had others, she'd like to see them too. So I went through the web site, pulled off the pictures of the various models and set them up one by one on the 21" flat screen monitor, so she could see them.
She was very impressed, to say the least.
"Can I have one too?", she asked.
Now, i truly love this woman and have a very hard time telling her no, about anything.
But, I have to admit the thought crossed my mind. "Great, I'll get her one too, maybe a nice M-43, a Chiruwa or a Sirupata. Then she'll certainly let me borrow it once in a while.
So I said, "Sure, which one would you like?"
She said, "That One!", pointing.
"Oh!", said I, very quietly," Umm, okay."
She was pointing to the picture of the Flagship Kothimoda!
GULP!
"And I want the prettiest one they have!", "Okay?"
"Sure," says I, mentally bidding farewell to the Winchester model 70 Featherweight in 6.5 mm Swede I'd been eyeing at my local gun store.
So I send the order to Yangdu, and she responds that "The prettiest one is on the way!"
Two days later (HOW DOES SHE DO THAT?), it's here.
It's beautiful, by Bura, of course, and included in the package is a very nice little Kagas Katne from Yangdu.
Quality is excellent to Outstanding in all areas. Balance is virtually perfect IMO.
I dont think I'll get to use it much though.
We're waiting for the velvet lined Oak Display case to get here!
My wife LOVES her new HI Khukuri, and so do I!
Our most Sincere Thanks once again to Bill and Yangdu!
And of course our prayers for Bill's health. At our house, we know that prayer works and we know miracles happen! Seven years ago my wife was totally blind, unable to walk, and the Doctors were telling me she would never improve! But there were a lot of people praying for her.
So, I've been in a bind, I wanted to tell you all this story, and to thank Bill and Yangdu. But I've been afraid to come back. I know about the Specials.
What will happen if I buy another Khukuri?
I'm frightened at the possibilities!
Best wishes to All,
Gary
