Carl,
I'd like to publicly thank you for your amazingly generous gift. I received a beautiful Opinel #6 today in the mail.

I remarked on a thread how I did not have an Opinel yet, and Carl sent me an email wanting to remedy that situation.

His gift could have not come at a better time. Our family life has been turned upside down over the last couple of months. My wife has been battling illness that we can't seem to lick, leaving her bed bound much of the time. It's hard on all of us because I work 24 hr shifts as a medic. There are days I don't see her for 12 hours when I get home because taking care of the kids while I'm gone just wipes her out.

Anyway, Carl's gift really means a lot to me. Carl, thank you so much, and I'll remember that down every rough dirt road there's a field of flowers. :)

Oh, and sorry Carl; I already modified it a bit. I sanded the top hump off the butt and hit it with a little poly/stain combo to darken it down some. Love this little knife!

well the knife gifting was generous of course, good on you Carl!

but my sympathies to you and your wife, i hope everything works out and she gets back to normal

Cool gift, Carl is good people. Good luck in your trials and tribulations, know that we are here for you in spirit. Prayers for your wife.

Ahh, don't mention it, bud. I like what you did to the handle. I hadn't modified it at all, just brushed on some poly to protect it. The number 6 is a great little slicer, use it well. Best luck with your wife, I really hope all will be well in the end. Yeah, remember the field of flowers down that dirt road.

Carl.

Classy move Carl. #6 is a near perfect size I think. Nice knife. Best of luck through the rough waters.

Excellent Carl!

ME, sorry to hear of your troubles. Prayers for a complete recovery.

Great gesture.

Little things like this really pick a person up. More than something like this ought, it seems.

Best wishes to your wife (and to the whole family); and thanks to Carl for being Carl.
As for the knife...I work in hospital too and do my share of long shifts...and my "work" knife (meaning the one I carry in my scrubs, not the one I use for work) is an Opinel #6 :)

Great little knife. Everyone should have an at least one opinel.

When I was young, I remember my mother was real sick for a long time. Slowly, she got better, but for a while it was pretty rough. I hope things get better, for yinz.

Good luck and all the best to you and your family medicevans, I hope your wife feels better soon...and thanks to Carl, that was a great thing to do! This forum never ceases to make me smile.

I mentioned these kinds of happenings to my fellow Scouters this past week and they really didn't believe me. I told them as tradtional knife knuts they need to visit here themselves and contribute.

Awesome knife from an awesome guy!!

I am very sorry to hear about your current situation. I'll keep you in my thoughts/prayers.
