So, I sent CooperHill a spoke shave. I didn't expect anything in return, but when he got it he sent me a message that he was sending me an axe.

I got this in the mail today:

WOW, this thing is awesome!!! It is a "Quickcut" by Mann Edge Tool Company. It is a beautiful beast. A lovely thin profile through the entire head.

Almost 5 1/4" bit!

CooperHill, thank you, Buddy! This thing is awesome, I'm blown away. You really blew away my little spoke shave, Man.

This is my first Mann, so that's awesome! This thing looks like its going to be a helluva chopper! Thank you!

It's called a vernier caliper with a dial, you can get digital verniers as well.

No, your eyes do not deceive you. I really did put paint on the handle! This was a 36" handle, but I sat the head down as far as I could and got it down to 33.5". Feels great, but I haven't swung it yet.

This gave me a chance to play with my new camera!

you just had to go and 'rock the boat' and paint that handle didnt ya

just kidding that looks great. the paint line turned out fantastic (remember, i use to be a painter)... nice work!

36 to a 33". Nice idea since the head on using that handle as the axe is so wide at the eye.

I also like the red paint. I'm not sure what the big deal is with painted handles. I see them all the time on old axes - especially the off-white/red combination.
