As many of you may know, David Winston is a knife maker on these

forums. I recently ordered this knife here from Mr. Winston --> http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=253782

I sent the check on Thursday, it got there Saturday, he sent the

knife Monday, I got it Wednesday. Nice and fast. In the box came the

knife, a leather sheath, and a receipt/small note from Mr. Winston

thanking me for the purchase (Thank YOU Mr. Winston). Now, from the

pictures I saw, I knew that this would be a nice knife. I was wrong.

This is an amazing knife. The knife looks tens times better in

person. After looking closely ast the knife, I realized that it was

flawless. The wood lined up perfectly with the tang of the blade and

the finish was impeccable. The edge was perfect, straight, and even.

The knife is just as sharp at the very tip, as it is at the center,

as it as at the very back. Yhe knife feels very solid as well, and

there's a good amount of steel behind the edge(this didn't seem to

hinder it's cutting perforce either). His craftmanship was perfect,

everything was just....right. Minutes after I had ripped open the

package, I had to go to work. So, me and my new knife headed off. I

was very eager to see how it performed. Let's just say that I was

more stunned with how sharp this thing was than how good it looked.

If you held this knife above you, closed your eyes, made a diagnol

slice, and cut a carboard box, you wouldn't have even noticed the

box. Ok, maybe I exaggerated a little, but it's still the sharpest

knife I've ever handled. Yes, it's shaper than a Spydie. It handled

every task that I asked it to. I didn't expect the sheath to be

something to write about, but Mr. Winston proved me wrong again. The

fit and finish are just as nice as the knife itself. All in all, I

feel that I got double the knife that I payed for. I didn't imagine

that it would be this nice. I couldn't be more happy, more pleased

with this knife. If you're going to be at Blade, I highly recommend

that you stop by and see Mr. Winston. If you're not going, head on

over to the knife exchange and pick one of his works up. You won't

regret it, I promise. I just can't stress enough how, for lack of a

better word, good this knife is. You know, I never though I'd carry a

fixed blade for EDC, that's all changed now. Thank you very much Mr.

Winston, I'll be buying another.

Well, I thought about that, but quite a few people asked me to post when I got the knife, and tell them how I liked it. I figured that more people would see it here. But, if it needs to be moves, go right ahead :)

GREAT!!! More competition from another buyer in the exchange. It's getting harder and harder to make it to his posts first ;)

I got the same feelings about all 4 knives I bought from Mr. Winston! He sure does make a fine product.

LOL, I have one I am in the process of paying off and one being made besides that. Mr. Winston works with us poor knife knuts as well :D

Yeah, I got a key from him on the way. And since I got a good deal of money from graduation, I think I'll get another knife from him.

EDIT: Btw, that top one is very nice.

If you don't mind me asking, what did that second-from-the-top one cost you? That's a sweet little blade.

Damn. That's a great price. I bet you don't take long to snag those up do you? :grumpy: :D

Does Mr. Winston have a web-site? Mailiing address? He does very nice work. Did he make the Damascus? Is he a specific steel he likes to work with? Thanks!

Mr.Winston posts allot of his wears in the exchange but also makes custom orders.

I am sure he could use any steel. I have seen him use anything from D2 to L6 I believe. He makes his own Damascus. :)
