All of us around the world thank you.........

Without your sacrifice the planet would be a very dark place today.........

I've never seen that photo before. I knew the monument was on/near the ship but.....

Thank you to all men and women of the Armed Services.

Not many of those guys around anymore. Thanks to those who've left us and those still fighting (fig or lit).

Back in 1975, I used to work with an old supervisor, a little overweight, quiet, shuffled around. Some of the clerks were pretty openly mocked him. I asked why. They didn't know, just that he was different.

One of the other supervisors told me about him: he had a plate in his skull, from injuries he suffered on board ship during that Japanese attack. I couldn't do anything about that but I did explain to the clerks that their discourtesy was no longer tolerable.

It's a strange feeling. Most people here on BF seem to understand. Out there ... fewer and fewer.

I feel like a pussy every time I think about what those men did. I mean damn I jump out of planes on a regular basis and do all kinds of shitty things with the Army, but those dudes either walked across Europe while freezing most of the time of literally had their skin rot off on some hell hole in the South Pacific. I cant imagine doing anything even remotely as heroic, hardcore, or impossible as those men.
