Based on the ravings of Glockman I bought a CRKT Kasper large plain. It is a great knife for under $40. Very nicely put together, smooth as silk action, the teflon bearings work great. Mine came pretty darn sharp, but 5 minutes with a strop charged with jewelers rouge had a mirror polished, super vorpal edge on it. There are those that complain about the edge holding of AUS6, but it does sharpen very easy to a razors edge (I'm not giving up my BG42, VG10 or CMP440V though).
The ergonomics were good and the fit and finish were great, a great value.
One huge problem though, mine only lasted 4 hours. I brought it to work, the first thing my partner Gary says to me is "hey is that a new knife {laying on the locker room bench}, let me see it."
The rest is history, he is really very happy with it
So Glockman, I thank you for the four hours with my new knife and my partner thanks you as well. I'm ordering a CRKT Pointguard to replace it AND keeping the Spyderco Military I was going to give him (rotating to a different shift, bye-bye present, he has been a great partner)

. There are STILL many CRKT Large Kaspers out there for sale, so I'm SURE you'll find just how much you MISS yours, and end-up buying ANOTHER "one". (Heck, I have 4! of those darn Kaspers ALREADY, and "looking" at trading for another one!).

The LAWKS is a passive feature in that you can use it, or you don't. However, it won't get in the way of normal use of the knife.

If it's cosmetic reasons, I suppose you can always risk voiding the warranty by removing it and replacing it with a washer of similar thickness. Is the blade pivot a removeable allen bolt? Glockman99? Anyone?

I don't own the C/K yet, however I do own a Covert

with the similar safety and I have to admit that it does work well.

P.S. I've noticed people refer to this as the KFF knife. Shouldn't it be the C/KFF knife? Kudos to Bob Kasper, but what about Pat Crawford?

Yes, I suppose that the LAWKS could be removed, as the knife CAN be taken totally apart, but I do believe that you would need to add a "washer" of some sort where the LAWKS would have been, in order to maintain correct blade alignment.

I would vote to leave the knife "as-is".

The LAWKS safety works great. Works well at user's discretion. I like it so much I'll eventualy get the Point Guard as well.

Chad234, I love my large KFF, but if you want to trade the Syderco Military for it I'd be interested.
