I LOVE money!!! but not for the reason most people love money
Oh, don't get me wrong, I love to make/earn money so we can enjoy a fun but modest lifestyle---we're not very materialistic but we want to do the things we enjoy and money sometimes plays a role in that.
BUT---the real reason "I" LOVE money is the character, the feel, the art that money/currency possess. Whether it be paper or coins, I LOVE money.
Money and traditional knives to "me" are similar in a lot of ways---they see lots of pocket time---they're very functional and have a wonder to them like where they've been, what they've seen and done. In the US there's a neat website where you can track a dollar bill called "www.wheresgeorge.com" if that bill has been stamped with the websites stamp. I enjoy seeing where a bill has been prior to me and where it goes once it leaves me---this intrigues me.
But what REALLY intrigues me is when you have an old dated coin or bill---40, 50, 60 or up to and over 100 years old---to me it's so cool/interesting to think that coin or bill has been out in circulation or semi-circualtion for that many years.
As a kid we owned a family furniture store for over 45 years. My brothers and I were brought up through the delivery ranks before we graduated to the sales floor---my dads way of getting us accumulated with the ins and outs of the furniture business. When on delivery if the screen door didn't hold itself open, one trick was to insert a coin or coins between the wedge and cylinder of a screen door plunger to hold it open as we moved the furniture in the house for the customer.
I always carried a 1964 Kennedy silver half dollar for this specific task---carried it for years and still have it to this day...it will eventually become one of the many many items I pass on to my sons...I also have the first "Susan B Anthony" dollar my oldest brother Jeff gave me. Plus will doing yard work as a kid I found several late 1800's and early 1900's Silver Dollars---that is when I became a money junkie. So you can see there's a fascination I have for old coins
NOW to you JACK. Thank you my friend for the absolute awesome gift's you have sent my way!!! You are truly a gem and such a great friend to me and many on the forum here:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:. Jack noticed a post I made about my love or currency, foreign and domestic and this is what I rec'd in the mail from Jack just a day ago. I will let the pictures speak for themselves
THANK YOU AGAIN JACK---your gift is to kind my friend but I am sincerely appreciative!!!
