Very generous sentiment Jaxx, and I appreciate it but I gotta say...

Credit Due:

Jerry: 100%

Will Pork: 0%

Whatever the inspiration, long live the Asymmetrical Edge! I only hope we see more of it, whether as a standard or optional grind. :D

I'd wouldn't mind getting an asym edge on a couple knives (for scientific purposes), so having it as an option would be nice.

I was at BLADE too, and you know that Jerry gave you credit for the inspiration to grind a few ASYM's for us HOGs. ;) ...Which is why I thanked you too! My first Busse ASYM, and WOW!!! Cuts through Oak like warm butter!:thumbup:

Thanks again, Jaxx. I do accept credit for harping on resurrecting it for so long that the aggravation may finally have played a part in Jerry's re-consideration of the genius of his design.

One helluva cutter, I agree. :D

What is a Asymmetrical Edge? Yes...yes...I'm a piglet...for now!!!:p

It's almost a chisel grind... but instead of the edge angle ground only on one side, 85-95% is on one side with the remainder ground on the other.

EDIT: I see Will York lookin' in... He's probably got a better definition. :)

(Edited to say Jaxx and I were posting at the same time. His photos above tell the story better than words.)

Hi Brandon,

Basically the edge grind is all on one side, a convex grind on that one side and almost dead flat on the other with the exception of a polished microbevel. Jerry employed it on the original Basic line back in the 1990's, on the original Straight Handled Battle Mistress and on the E-handled line after that before discontinuing it in favor of conventional V grinds and dual convex grinds. Here's a thread that contains some discussion about it:
