Today I received my DAM Skyline back from KAI along with the Chive they included as compensation for not having a replacement blade. Here is the original thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1042469-Damascus-questions-(Update)

The customer service rep (I think it was Crystal) was polite and apologetic about the problem. She presented me with several options including replacing the Skyline with any available Damascus models. When it became clear there were no others I opted to have my knife returned and accepted the offer for the Chive. Not a bad outcome at all. Now that I have the Skyline back I'm quite happy to see it again. It flips super smooth and is very sharp. The Chive is really cool too. It has a shiny black coating on the blade that matches the handle. It looks really slick. I was expecting the flat black coating like on the ZT0400 I have here. The cool little tin it came in will make a nice "survival" kit. Also included we're some sweet ZT/Kershaw stickers.
Again, thank you Kershaw, I really appreciate the effort made to fix my problem. I will continue to carry and use the knives for many years to come.

Brian

That's great service. I sent a knife in to a different company recently. It was a discontinued model that had some sentimental value to me. They didn't have the parts, so I opted to have my knife returned to me. They didn't offer anything to make right the fact that their product had failed.

Kudos to Kershaw for going above and beyond time and again! I never get tired of hearing stories about Kershaw doing the right thing.

Thanks Max. Sorry to hear your situation didn't work out so well. At least you can buy with confidence from Kershaw.

Awesome  You need to have a giveaway or something with those cool stickers. My rainbow Chive came in a tin as well.

The coated chives come in tins - SS, VIB, BLK

On another note- they gave you stickers???

Yes I'm very jealous!

:D

Glad to see that you had a great service experience with Kershaw. I sent a like-new Clash back to them about two weeks ago because of excessive up and down blade play. Even spoke with them by email beforehand about the issue and they assured me that Kershaws aren't supposed to have any wiggle. They sent it back to me in record time with little or no repair to the blade play issue, but they did sharpen the blade (didn't ask them to do it as it still had the factory edge) to the point that it is wicked, scary sharp. I guess for a $25.00 Chinese knife, I can live with a little blade play.

That's too bad. If you saw the original post they were unable to fix my knife due to a lack of parts. Still the customer service was very good and they gave me the free knife. A very nice gesture i gladly accepted. And the Chive pretty much offset the original cost of the Skyline. I'm content and have two knives instead of one.

FWIW my Clash locks up solid as a rock. I'm surprised they didn't replace yours. You can always send it back again. But on such an inexpensive knife the cost of sending twice barely seems worth it.

I thought about sending it back again but as you said, the cost makes it not worth it. I just need to move up to a more expensive Kershaw. I have a Volt ll also. Rock solid lockup.
